Yea, looking at their lefties you are probably right. But Turnbull has pitched 2 good games and has plenty of rest, I expect a good performance Friday.

We'll need it. You always need your starters to go deep to preserve the bullpen in a regional, but Kennesaw is no slouch. Turnbull has to be on his "A" game.

Somebody asked about Keller, it sounds like he's available only in a limited relief role. That just emphasizes the point that if we don't win our first two games, we'll have no shot of advancing. There won't be any repeat of our rally from the loser's bracket at Georgia Tech in 2010.

Looks like some chances for a lot of rain in the forecast this weekend. It looks like tomorrow afternoon should be ok though, so hopefully we'll get our game in uninterrupted.

5 wins away from the CWS.

Come hits come
Come hits come
Fly away buzzard
Fly away crow
Way down south
Where the winds don't blow
Rub your nose
And give three winks
And save us from this awful jinx.

Bases covered.

Hits a coming.

Tallahassee Regional Preview (BA)

quote:

No. 2 Alabama (34-22, 15-14 in SEC)
Roster | Statistics
24th appearance (second straight), at-large, fifth place in SEC West
Top 200 Prospects: RHP Spencer Turnbull (81)

quote:

Alabama comes in struggling, having dropped seven of 11. But the Crimson Tide has a solid offense, with six starters hitting .282 or better and a knack for getting on base. Junior Ben Moore (.305/.363/.486) has pop to all fields and led the club with nine homers. Fellow righthanded hitter Austen Smith (.316/.426/.480) led the team in batting average and RBIs (36) and has good power to left and left center. Junior college transfer Wade Wass bounced back from missing all of 2013 with an ankle injury to have a standout season (.305/.398/.468) and led the club with 19 doubles. Up-the-middle stalwarts Mikey White (.303/.397/.440), Kyle Overstreet (.278/.339/.376) and Georgie Salem (.288/.329/.358) provide stability and and outstanding defense as well. No. 81 draft prospect Spencer Turnbull (5-6, 2.28) works downhill with a 90-94 fastball that touches 96, and he mixes in a power slurve, a quality changeup and a cutter. Justin Kamplain (6-3, 3.07) is a smallish bulldog who can hold his 89-91 fastball and eat up lefties with his sharp breaking ball, or backdoor it against righties. Junior lefty Jon Keller (5-2, 2.57) was up and down after moving into the Sunday starter role. His breaking ball is an out pitch and he commanded his fastball better this season. The bullpen is deep and versatile. Lefthander Thomas Burrows (4-1, 1.62, 10 SV) is uncommonly polished for his age, with good command of an 89-93 fastball from a three-quarters slot and a swing-and-miss breaking ball. Versatile senior righty Tucker Hawley (4-1, 1.93) spots up a fringy fastball and mixes in a solid changeup and slider.

I'm heading over tomorrow morning, if we win today. I hate to be 'that guy' but I'm going to have a hard time justifying it after a week long vacation over Memorial Day if we get beat today.

I really think we can give Florida St a great game with Kamplain on the mound. I'm going to be super disappointed if we don't get a chance again. I think that's why I'm so nervous this morning

I'm going tomorrow for sure. I just hope the weather doesn't ruin everything.

Baseball America has some interesting definitions of the words 'deep' and 'versatile.'

Yea I can deal with some long delays pushing start times back or what not (I'm sure there is beer to be drank in Tallahassee in those cases), but from a competitive standpoint I just hope we don't have any delays during games. We don't have the arms to compete if one of our starters gets knocked out of a game early by a long rain delay.

Just win today. I don't expect us to beat FSU, but a loss today ends the season.

I am a little surprised we went with Goodson , but I guess well will see how that works out. If Vincent makes another error today I am going to be mad.

Yea those were my thoughts as well. I guess we might as well give Goodson a shot though since nobody else is producing there. And yea, if Vincent makes an error I'm going to need a new computer.

Looks good on my phone.

The fact we have the same team BA as FSU but score 1.6 fewer runs per game validates all of our bitching about timely hitting and a lack of patience to draw walks.
