That Tech almost lost us the game.

We win tha game by 20 if Sherrell doesn’t foul out

Reinforces to us and every team that scouts us how important Sherrell’s foul situation is. Don’t love that for March

If we had Chuck we are easily 3-4 seed.

Chuck starting was not the move and we figured that out about the time we lost him.

However, Chuck on the bench was exactly the missing piece for this team. Alabama missing on every portal signee - due to injuries, "injuries", and the Patriot League apparently being the lowest of the low in D1 - will likely be the reason this team fails to make a real run at the final Monday.

The staff hit hard on the freshmen, had a great group of veteran guards, and Sherrell was a promising returning big man. The team just needed some complimentary pieces in the front court and basically none of them have been available or apparently AI generated their tape sent to scouts.

If Nate would have used Chuck like he is having to use Noah and TBB now (which is just to give Sherrell a rest) it would have been very effective.

Him playing Chuck as much as Sherrell didn’t work. Mainly because Chuck lost too much weight and couldn’t build a wall defensively and box out like he could before. He wasn’t sturdy enough

Nice win. It was always going to be a trap type game and we were in full control pretty much the entire game. Hopefully it’s another fairly easy win Wednesday before the real stretch begins.

Story of the season. I still have some sliver of hope that TBB gets healthy enough for the postseason and gives us a little juice, but this has easily been Oats' worst portal class. They've just collectively given us like 3 good games and a bunch of nothing. We'd be in real trouble if Sherrell hadn't developed so quickly and Allen hadn't come in looking like an NBA guy.

Is that an evaluation thing or is it a not giving Oats enough money thing?

Just out of curiosity, went and watched a short highlight reel of Williamson from last year. His game looks the same, but the major difference I see is he was playing with a lot of confidence last season. Comparatively, dude looks absolutely terrified playing any good team in the SEC, and some shitty ones too. I don't think he actually believes he can take on some of the athletes he has to go against, and it shows.

Evaluation. Money isn’t holding Bama back on anyone but maybe the top 8-10 portal guys.

TBB is big for getting 4 settled. Bristow isn't really a 5 but he would've been after Williamson revealed himself to be a low-level D1 conference fraud.

If we can get TBB some confidence these next 4 games along with Jemison, we’ve got a chance to do special march things again.

Mostly evaluations I'd imagine. It's really hard to say with TBB, Bethea, and Bristow though because they just haven't played very much. None of them really fit the bargain bin profile though. Bethea was a recent 5* recruit, and the others were major contributors at their last programs. I do wish we'd give Oats just a little more money to go sign an elite bag chaser out of the portal or a top 5 recruit every couple of years though.

We should take a quality over quantity approach. I wonder if with what we gave Jalil, TBB, Bristow, and Noah if we could’ve gotten Yaxel from UAB/Michigan.

It’s a risk for depth, but Bristow and Jalil don’t play, Noah shouldn’t play, and TBB has been hurt.

Yeah. Seems like he and his attorneys just folded. That sucks.

Wrightsell, Mallette, and Holloway are all transfers in their 2nd or 3rd year here. Bol-Bowen would be good for us if he was ever healthy and integrated into the team defense and offensive flow. I think Bristow was an evaluation hit too but seems like his camp found something they don't want him playing on (and my assumption is he's getting to use our facilities and support to recover fully and show off for someone else next year).

Bethea is a miss but that was a miss that we could mostly afford due to the guard depth. If he was too good to keep off the court, they'd play him at 3 some. If not, he was going to be back of the bench.

So I don't think they missed on evaluation for anyone other than Williamson. Heck, Bethea looks like he ought to be an elite guard but he's just kinda dumb.
