They’ve beat us once in 104 years. That’s crazy.

I wouldn't bet a dime on us covering point spreads this year

Have covered twice so far

Was the first half pretty? No. But a 32-0 response in the second half is pretty damn good. All with like 1 or 2 returning starters on offense. Sky ain’t falling imo.

Grubb is a masterful play caller who didn’t understand with the Seahawks and doesn’t seem to understand with us that he’s not playing Madden ball and that if the s**t you have cooked up ain’t working you have to adjust according to the situation and the circumstances and do different s**t.

Shocco a masterful play caller can screw himself by getting too full of himself and his smarts and getting too cute with his play calls. Sometimes like today you just gotta run the damn ball if it’s working. I don’t think he understands the concept of if something is working keep hammering it until it stops working. He’s too afraid people will adjust. Maybe they will, maybe they won’t but if it stops working do something different.

Getting too cute or over thinking it. Gotcha.

There have been times the last two years … I’d have to sit down and think a few minutes to cite specifics … where he’d call something that made me shake my head and say “Grubb, you magnificent …” but then he’d turn around and call something completely boneheaded.

really just want to see a vintage Saban era 60 minute beatdown.

Get a time machine.

The talent is going to the highest bidder and no one has the depth they used to.

Saban walked because he could see it coming.

This is why I rarely go to games anymore and my kids suffer because of it. I would have been thrown out and prolly arrested if I’d have been there

Saban retired because he couldn't hire the coordinators he wanted because they wanted guarantees on how long he would keep coaching and he couldn't give it to them. Also he said the extra work he had to put in because a certain unnamed coordinator couldn't pull his weight almost killed him.

I believe so. Saban was nice enough to call him out by name.

I rewatched the 2nd half. Russell had one ill-advised throw that could have been picked, but things improved when they started throwing quick off RPOs instead of a heavy dose of DeBoer/Grubb-style 10-12 yard deep stems off the vertical pattern plays. Ultimately, that worked because the OL was displacing the Kentucky DL on every run play.

We are going to need this OL and RB group to be great because I don't think Russell is improving with his processing and decision-making to the degree we need to run a pass-heavy offense. Hopefully the 2nd half was a light switch turning on...
