I'll take Scott Frost before them.

You would take an OC as a DC before Schumam or Muschamp? You must be playing 4D chess or something.

Saban is 70 years old. He is facing some of the issues Bryant faced his last couple of years. Bobby Bowden faced them too. Harsin faced the same issue heading into this season down at Auburn

Those recruiting against him are telling kids he will not be there for all four of their potential seasons. They will have to deal with a new head coach and position staffs.

Those Saban wishes to hire for OC/DC and position coaches have to consider how long they would actually be in Tuscaloosa before a new staff comes in. Will they get 1 year? Two years? Then what.

The players Saban is recruiting have to consider who will be their coach the next year or maybe in a couple of years.

If Saban does not have strong loyal coaches already with him, the task to bring them in gets more difficult every year. How much effort does he want to put into developing hot young coaches if he may not even be here to see then as a finished product?

Milwee would likely be a pretty good choice for OC. Pruitt would be a good choice except for his issues with the NCAA. Strong might be a decent choice for DC. Jimmy Lake would be a great choice but why would he move to Tuscaloosa for a short term stay?

Saban has shifted to reform coaches with time in the saddle so he does not have to teach them how to ride. Those older coaches are less likely to still have the fire of flexibility he needs them to have.

I suspect Saban would make the DC change to Pruitt if he were an option. My guess is he stays with Golding and hopes for the best. If next season does not go better than this one has, I suspect the draw to watching the ducks shite in the backyard will get very strong by the end of next October.

That would be unacceptable. I'd have to think about renewing my season tickets. Yeah, I know someone else would take them, but I just don't know if I can pay a few thousand dollars to see more of Pete Golding's incompetence. I mean, we can't even get the right personnel on the field coming out of a timeout. The defense hardly ever protects a lead anymore in crunch time against a team with a pulse.

Maybe/Hopefully, Saban is holding out for the NCAA to make a ruling in the Viles case so there will be some clarity on Pruitt.

Guys are speculating Golding will be back because Golding isn't connected to any other offers that we know of. But, it's purely speculation Golding will be back.

If Auburn gets their wish and hires Hugh Freeze, Alabama should hire Pruitt as DC and dare anyone to say anything. If I remember correctly, he never received a “show cause” from the NCAA so what is to stop Alabama from hiring him? If there are any questions, don’t allow him to be one of the recruiting coaches for a period of a couple years.
To stand pat with Golding would be absolute gross negligence.

Looking at what we’ve got coming back, odds are he’ll really start considering it.

Jeremy Pruitt is the best DC Saban ever had. Beg him to come back.

Exactly!

I miss Karl Dunbar! The defensive line was so good under him.

Offer him a lot to get him back!!

I'm all for bringing back Bo Davis back if I can't get Dunbar.
