tvfool.com is a good site for testing your location for over the air signals. Use their signal analysis link.
And for those that didn’t know, a while back OTA stations went full digital, so you need to use a compass and point your antenna fairly precise toward the transmission towers. 48 miles from B’ham and I get excellent signal on all channels except channel 13 and PBS. I think it has something to do with them being VHF low band, while most stations are UHF. But I could be wrong.

Screw Direct TV - had them for 17 years and when I called and asked for NFL ticket recently (that they give to new subs.) - they told me to pretty much go ahead and cancel. Gonna switch to Spectrum mobile as well - AT&T (which owns Direct TV) gets no more of my $$.
FWIW, you might want to try again. I was getting stonewalled by one rep this morning. Offered the antenna and a $25 one time bill credit. I hung up and called back, and the next rep gave me the antenna, free Sunday ticket, and lowered my bill from $115 to $60 for 12 months.

Unless you live in the boonies, a set of rabbit ears will give you high def on all the major broadcast networks - ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS. My current antenna cost me $15.00 from Target and I get about 30 channels.
The federal government requires that they broadcast a high def signal.
The higher you position the antenna the better.

Yeah, I get about 500 channels - half infomercials, 1/3 of the balance in Spanish, 1/3 I would have to pay extra for, and the remaining 25 or 30 channels I can watch all I want for only $120 a month.
