Oct. 2 -- vs. Ole Miss T/U

I think we are gonna get pissed of Saban that week. Kiffin did some pre game warm up shenanigans that did not sit well with coach. And the hole 48 points and 650 yards of offense given up

Not me... been waiting on this day since I quietly exited last time we were in gainesville, after Brantley went down Don't have a ticket yet, probably will get stuck sitting with uf boosters... but I'd be happy to pre/post game with any of y'all. If you're into oatmeal coffee stouts, I'll be packing some swamphead midnight oil... first one is on me

You need to throw other programs under the bus, too.

I wasn't picking on just Alabama. Every major team does it. It's the main reason why scheduling should be taken out of the hands of the universities and given to TV. Instead of the three cupcakes, Alabama should be playing three mid-tier, if not top-tier P5 teams. Replace Mercer, So. Miss. and NM St. with Texas, USC, and Michigan. Do the same with every team....replace their cupcakes with real opponents.

I don't think playing a cupcake will kill college football.

Keep in mind that small schools like Mercer rely on playing teams like Alabama to generate income to support their programs. The paycheck Mercer wil get for this glorified scrimmage will go a long way for them.

I miss the all-SEC Schedule

I mean we beat the hell out of all of those teams, so I don’t really see the issue.

I think there are too many G5/FCS games and some G5 programs are basically FCS, but I don’t hate them.

1) It’s cheap to take the whole family to the game.
2) When a G5 beats an SEC team (which is actually fairly often), it’s awesome.
3) The money from those games trickles all the way into high school programs.

I don’t understand why everyone gets in a fit when we beat Southern Miss by 40+, but it’s okay to beat Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Miss State, Tennessee by 40+.

Also, fans of a bunch of teams checked out instantly under the all-conference schedule. Sure for us it’s fine, but is it healthy for a Miss State program to go 5-5 in their best seasons?

I think the SEC should go to 9 SEC games and Bama, LSU, A&M, AU, UGA & FL should schedule one marquis out-of-conf P5 opponent and two respectable G5 teams (no FCS). OM, MSU, Arky, Vandy, Mizzou, SC and Tenn can still schedule 3 easy out-of-conf games to help them reach bowl eligibility. With 3 cross-dvision SEC games, you can have 1 fixed cross-division rival and rotate the other 6 in 2 schedule slots yearly. Example:

Bama's out-of-conf & cross-div rotations:
9th SEC replaces FCS; 6 SEC-West games
in 2nd half of season; 7 homes & 5 aways.
'22: vs G5, vs P5, vs G5; at MZ, vs UK, at TN
'23: vs G5, at P5, vs G5; vs VB, at Ga, vs TN
'24: vs G5, vs P5, vs G5; at SC, vs UF, at TN
'25: vs G5, at P5, vs G5; vs MZ, at UK, vs TN
'26: vs G5, vs P5, vs G5; at VB, vs Ga, at TN
'27: vs G5, at P5, vs G5; vs SC at UF, vs TN

All SEC East and West teams would play each other much more often. Even 3-year players would get to play against every SEC team.

More on scheduling here: Why/how a 6-team CFP and conf realignment would improve CFB

I’d be fine with the FCS game becoming a sort of preseason game or even replacing the spring game.

Part of the problem is that we’ve been playing really bad G5 teams. When we had a stretch that we played Brohm Western Kentucky, Colorado State and Tedford Fresno State that was actually solid.

The problem is American schools are good enough to get a home game from a lot of P5 teams, so it’s harder to schedule those. We have the 2-1 coming with USF though.

It's coming.

2025 - Wisconsin & Florida State
2026 - Florida State & West Virginia
2027 - West Virginia & Ohio State
2028 - Ohio State & Notre Dame

Still gonna have one creampuff and one average G5 mixed in most likely, but until there is more uniformity in scheduling, I'm fine with this.

I’m in agreement with a nine game conference schedule, but I do worry about the physicality of play in the sec week after week. I mean, some people won’t be happy unless Alabama plays a top 10, ooc game to complete the schedule. Even the “bad” teams in the sec have good, physical, nfl caliber players, at least more so than other conferences.

Then you add in people calling for expanded playoffs and when is it too much for “student athletes”.

There needs to be a balance of entertaining games for the fans and prolonging the careers of the athletes.

I agree with you. Those games are needed to be able to rest players to a degree during the season and to be able to give your younger guys some experience.
