Yea a veteran 3rd safety who knows the general scheme wouldn't be bad.
I'm excited for Battle. He played quite a bit and will not be completely green. Not super thrilled having him and Hellams/Wright/whoever both starting new, but Battle is going to be a stud.

I'd like to see someone like Reese as the 3rd safety and/or big nickel.
That safety "safety net" that you can use in spots without exposing his weakness. Able to step in if a younger guy doesn't do as expected.
ETA: Ah, assumed he was a graduate transfer.
Reese is an undergrad and would have to sit out for a year. DeMarcco Hellams (6-1/213) and Kristian Story (6-1/210) seem like pretty good fits for "big nickel" and dime DBs.

Yeah, that's not quite as appealing then, guys like Hellams would essentially get the same level of experience in the time Reese has to sit out.
All the same, someone like Reese is what I'd look for as a grad transfer. Not to start, but a vet you can trust behind 2 new safeties. Will still have playing time, but not holding as much of the younger players back.

That sort of role does make sense as a pretty good reason to bring in a grad transfer safety. Maybe Juco transfer Ronald Williams could sort of fill that roll. He's supposedly got CB/S position versatility and had a solid sophmore season.

Just play to Reeses strength. I mean we played Mayden and he couldnt cover.

OCs will call plays to exploit any weaknesses in the secondary -- a la Savion Smith vs Clemson. I see no point in playing a DB who's weakness is pass coverage, unless it's just situationally as a blitzer or to load the box.

Every player has a weakness. Cant get around that. As a coach its up to you to put them in positions to succeed. Plenty of safties have coverage issues nothing new.

Brandon Frazier CBd to Auburn by an AU mod and an Arkansas (former Hogs commit) mod. Apparently AU OC Chad Morris' relationship with Frazier is the difference maker in his recruitment.

The cow college hire of the Ole Hog coach paying dividends plus they got the other TE as well.

Tbh, it won't bother me if Auburn ends up with both Frazier and Pegues. Maybe Bama will push for the FSU grad transfer TE McKitty, which might be better for our TE depth situation, assuming he'd be ready to play in 2020. But there may not be room within the 85 limit, especially if Najee stays. -- 2020 Projected Roster

JMO but after spring drills it is possible the 85 limit will be no problem.

We have to stay within the 85 limit at all times, not just during the season. If you're saying the results of spring practice competition for PT might trigger some departures, I agree, especially for guys who'd be able to grad transfer and be immediately eligible to play or else just get their degree and move on with life after CFB. I've already identified (bold names) players as potential departures who appear fairly likely to end up in that situation, but I might've missed a couple -- 2020 Projected Roster.

Just post a link to his post or at least a link to the thread. People don't stay in topic. It could be burried in any 3-4-page thread on that board. I did a SECRB forum search on McKitty and whiffed.

If you put Bear and I in a locked room and we had to figure out technology to get out and survive, we’d be screwed
