We immediately went to "warmer" for Ennis. He might commit soon.

Ennis Rakestraw has to be 1 of the top CBs in the nation. His performances vs Rockwall, St. John, SGP & Skyline show his value. Those 4 schools had wrs who are going to Ohio St., LSU, Kansas & Texas. He hasnt given up a TD all season.

2020 cornerback LINK ]Ennis Rakestraw announced an offer from Alabama on Tuesday, and the Duncanville (TX) standout says it’s a big one. “It’s immeasurable with words. Since I was eight years old I’ve wanted to go to Bama...
"It’s just how their defense plays, they play hard. That’s how I pride myself — being physical, fast, and fearless. Just watching them as a football team, you’ll learn a lot from a coach like Nick Saban and how he instructs those guys. They have discipline. You can tell he’s very structure-oriented.”
Three official visits are on the schedule to Miami (Jan. 17-19), Missouri (Jan. 24-26), and Michigan State (Jan. 31-Feb. 2). With the latest offer, Rakestraw says UA will receive an official visit (he has four remaining).
“Decisions are going to have to be made,” he said of his schedule. “Today I will be talking to Nick Saban and the corners coach, so I’ll talk about the date with them. At this moment I thought signing day, but when I feel like it’s right, it’s right,” he said of a decision date. “If I visit and it’s right, it’s right.”

Maybe it was a grades issue...his tackling may be an issue but he sure as hell tries to tackle. Kid attacks
You’re right about that, brother! That’s what I did like. He may have not wrapped up, but he wasn’t afraid to tackle.
Honestly hope he is a take, kid looks legit

I found this on the Miami board about Rakestraw.
I knew of Rakestraw last year. My team - Southlake Carroll - lost to DV last year and this year in week 4 of the POs. But, some of the success teams had on their defense was attacking Rakestraw, including our's.
Fast forward this year.... SLC has one of the best QBs in the country (soph Quinn Ewers - one of the best I've ever seen) and one of the best WR corps in Texas. I feel like we can have some success against ER, and we went after him early. No way. Dude was a totally different player - absolutely one of those late bloomer types who looks like a different kid his senior year. He did an amazing job in coverage on a kid (low D1) that had beasted all year long for us. I was eager to see how he matched up with Jaxon Smith-Ngiba, a kid from Rockwall, who is top 3 WR in the nation the next week. Rakestraw gave him absolute fits. I knew he was the real deal and it wasn't a fluke, no one had kept JSN in check like that his entire career. North Shore didn't even look his way and they are loaded with athletes everywhere.
After that Rockwall game I came *this* close to posting his name on this forum or emailing the staff in hopes that it would trickle back to the coaches given our lackluster CB haul, but I've done that in the past several times with kids and nothing ever came of it, so I didn't worry about it.
This kid isn't going to come in and be a lockdown dude from day one - he's got to get bigger and stronger to tackle at the next level. But his cover skills are as legit as it gets at that level, and he proved it against super legit competition. I hope it works out. As mentioned earlier, Judd Thrash on the DV staff is apparently tight with Manny from Thrash's days coaching at Lake Travis. Thrash is a super motivating, charismatic dude who would have sway over kids like that. He's one of the sharper guys on the DV staff and I'd have to think he will give Rakestraw good advice. That's great news for us, as our depth chart is horrendous there. Bad news is that the buzz is that almost everyone's giving him a strong look now, and there are some programs that have a lot more mojo at the moment. Another bit of good news, however, is that South Dallas loves Miami. Despite all these shitty seasons, I STILL see UM gear more than any other out of state teams at these HS games. They remember Armstead and crew and the impact those teams had on the game of football.... and it was happening at the same time Dallas Carter was the big news in town, so there's always going to be love there.

Hmm seems like you were spot on with your earlier assessment.

Yep. It sounds like he truly feels he and Bama's program culture are a good match and wants to roll with the tide.

I have wanted to exclusively focus on flipping Jase McClellan and move on from Evans for a while now. Who knows what will happen in the future for Evans but he looks like he has a lot he needs to work out at the moment.
It feels good to get what you want.

Yeah, UGA released Evans from his LOI today. That kid is going to play for at least 2 teams during college.

I have a feeling he doesn't get it together and is out of football in a couple years.
Posted on 1/7/20 at 6:24 pm to Robot Santa
Yep that is what prompted the post. I also predicted this in October, good chance it comes true.

Evans doesn't seem to love football all that much. He doesn't watch it, got him self suspended and no shows visits.
That doesn't mean he won't have an exceptional football career but definitely means he is a higher risk recruit in regards to sticking around. He reminds some of Alvin Kamara and Rickey Williams from what I've read.
He seems like a guy who ends up close to home at the end and goes to TAMU but who knows.

He will be a beast in college. He will be a star at Texas a and m. Pickens was the same way last year and had a great freshman year. I’m glad we are passing on him because there is some risk but I think he will be a beast and start rjght away at a Texas A&M. The coaches at the under armour game were saying he was the best back they’ve seen there in 5 years

You have got to be a fricked up kid for Kirby not to take you. How childish can you be. They released him from his scholarship without a fight lol.
Posted on 1/7/20 at 7:52 pm to Tide or Die87
I mean, what does UGA gain by holding him to the LOI though? Best case scenario he continues being the disgruntled locker room cancer he has been in high school and it provides an enormous amount of ammo for other coaches to use against them in recruiting. Worst case scenario he goes into the portal immediately and tells the NCAA about all the money and cars Kirby hooked him up with in exchange for immunity and an eligibility waiver.
