LINK ]Latham feels like part of Bama family already (BamaOnLine | segments)
quote:

This weekend four-star DL and Tide commit LINK ]Jah-Marien Latham returned to UA yet again, this time for his official visit. “Great, man,” he said of the trip. “Got to meet with some soon-to-be teammates. Had a great talk with Coach Saban, almost all the coaches on the coaching staff. It was a good weekend.”

“Every time I’m here, it’s like I’m already part of the team... part of the family... at home. My host was Christian Barmore. He was telling me when I come in I gotta be a dog to see the field as a freshman. I’m gonna put in the work and everything I got to so I can. I talked to Javion Cohen too, trying to get him to flip."

This weekend was originally reserved for an official visit to Ole Miss, but with Matt Luke getting let go from the Rebels last week, Latham switched his trip to Bama. Latham hasn’t heard from new Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin yet. “I’m probably done with my official visits,” he said. Latham plans to sign on Dec. 18 and enroll at the Capstone next summer.

LINK ]Smith talks Bama OV, where his commitment stands (BamaOnLine | segments)
quote:

Bama got its star DL commit LINK ]Timothy Smith back on campus this weekend in what was a pivotal official visit. “It was everything I expected it to be. This trip was more about building relationships with everybody. I got a chance to see a side that most people don’t usually get to. The relationships and connections with everybody got stronger.”

Tide DB Jordan Battle hosted Smith throughout the weekend. “Coach Saban, actually,” he said of who he strengthened his bond with the most this weekend. “I got a chance to hangout with him one on one. I actually got a lot closer with him. Me and Coach Sal have always had that connection since he was at Florida.”

Saban will be in Florida on Thursday to see Smith, who still plans to take an OV to UF next weekend before the Early Signing Period. Florida faces an uphill battle to change Smith’s mind, though.

“What’s really stuck with me is numbers. Florida, they just don’t produce the same number of DL to the NFL that Bama has. It’s not something they can just change right now. It’s gotta be changed over a period of years.” Smith went on to add how he feels about his pledge to the Tide. “It’s 100 percent."

Think we have any chance with Broderick Jones or Sedrick Van Pran since Pittman is going to Arkansas? Both arent signing early, so potentially we would have enough time to build a relationship up. Also since we believe george won't be a part of the class, this would be a very very nice replacement.

I doubt it but I'll watch for anything on it. I haven't said that I "believe" George won't be in UA's class. However, when a commit doesn't sign early and says he'll be taking OVs to other schools, it does open the door for him to flip or lose his spot.

LINK ]Coming off Alabama OV, Webb focusing on three schools (BamaOnLine | segments)
quote:

Alabama got four-star LB LINK ]Phillip Webb on campus for what is likely the last official visit of his recruitment. “It was really good. I kind of got to see the coaches in a different way. It was just good spending a lot of time down there.”

Webb's hosts were Shane Lee and Patrick Surtain II. “They told me they really enjoy it. They said you can come in and get some good playing time as a true freshman. I feel like we have kind of the same personality, so that’s what I really enjoyed. ”Webb also spent time with fellow official visitors Javion Cohen and Alabama pledge Timothy Smith.

“Probably the highlight moment was going to Coach Saban’s house and going to the lake,” Webb said. Saban used his in-home last Wednesday evening. Bama will be back this week, but Webb isn’t sure which day. “It was really cool,” he said of having Saban at his house.

With no visit plans for next weekend, Webb will now focus on making his decision. “I’ve still got two more in-home visits and I’ll see from there. I’m just focusing on Bama, Florida, and LSU. It’s really close with them. This Bama visit really gave me a lot to think about.”

LINK ]Cohen breaks down Alabama OV, what will go into final decision (BamaOnLine | segments)
quote:

Auburn OT commit LINK ]Javion Cohen took what was likely the last visit of his recruitment to Bama this weekend. “It was real nice. I learned a lot about the program and everything, about the coaching staff, everybody was very respectful towards me and my parents. It was a real eye-opener.”

It was a combination of spending time with host Evan Neal and OL coach Kyle Flood that Cohen says were the highlight moments. "We just sat down and talked about Bama football, giving me insight on what to expect when I get there. Also, sitting with Coach Flood in that meeting room, watching film. I loved that."

Cohen also spent time with the Tide commits on their official visits this weekend. “Jamil (Burroughs), Malachi (Moore), Jah-Marien (Latham), Kristian (Story)... Plus, my boy Phillip (Webb) came. They're good guys, all of them."

What was Nick Saban’s message? "The many things I’d have there to help build young men. Winning just comes along with how well they do that. That was his most important thing — me becoming a young man, graduating in three years and developing into a good person. That really stuck out to me and my parents.”

How will Cohen go about deciding whether he wants to go to Alabama or Auburn? “I believe in just leaving it up to God. I know the answer will come to me through prayer."

Note: Cohen's dad is a Bama fan.

From a reliable BOL poster on Scooby Carter: "He was going through some personal stuff and things got in his head and he made the decision to enter the portal. He knows Bama is the best place for him but he wasn’t quite sure if that’s where he wanted to be. Nothing is set in stone but as of right now he is staying."

I know we are fricking stacked at the LB class this year but I don't like us not getting Legacy Reggie Grimes. He's the 61st ranked player nationally. These are the type of players that should be locks. Got to keep the potentially great legacy players on the team to reinforce support from previous players.

What happened with his recruitment that let him go to OU?
