I disagree. He is and always was planning to commit to UH. Go Coogs!

I think we may be in the cat bird's seat for Evans. I always felt we were taking his teammate because we have a lot of OL depth. So, a package deal is something we could take a risk on in this case.

I guess the first question that needs to be answered is Gibbs with his new offer does he have a green light to commit. If so that may be the staff saying Evans will not end up this class. With needs and a previous year for precedence I do not see us taking 4 RBs in this class and I am just as happy with the 2 we got and would be excited to add Gibbs.

I’d take Gibbs. Here’s a nice highlight LINK

LINK ]Flip Watch: Committed Texas and Louisiana prospects that could flip (Rivals | segments)
quote:
Top prospects are making decisions earlier and earlier each recruiting cycle and 2020 delivered on plenty of big commitments in the spring and summer. Of course, commitments are merely verbal pacts until they're put to paper.
The Early Signing Period is quietly creeping up, so Rivals Texas and Louisiana Analyst Sam Spiegelman put the spotlight on eight prospects in his region on who could be on flip watch leading into December.
Jase McClellan | 5-star RB | Aledo, TX
We were all younger, thinner, healthier and better-looking when McClellan pledged to Oklahoma back in 2017. Heck, Lincoln Riley had yet to coach a game for the Sooners when the Rivals100 back made his commitment.
However, McClellan has made an official visit to Texas and will make it Alabama next month for the LSU game. Also keep an eye on the Tigers, who are in search of a bell-cow for their 2020 class. With that in mind, the Sooners remain in the driver's seat to hold onto to the elite RB.

LINK ]Take Two: Will Jordan Burch's visit put the Tide on top?
quote:
![]()
THE STORYLINE
Jordan Burch is one of the most interesting prospects in the 2020 class because everyone likes to speculate where he’s going to play his college ball, but the five-star defensive end rarely does interviews and so much of his recruitment is speculation.
Clemson seems to be the team to beat for the Columbia (S.C.) Hammond School standout who’s currently ranked fourth nationally, but others are definitely involved.
South Carolina cannot be counted out. Georgia has been in the mix. And now Burch has scheduled his official visit to Alabama for its massive matchup against LSU in a few weeks.
Alabama has the recruiting muscle to go anywhere in the country to get any elite player, but Clemson is no slouch in that regard and the Tigers have put a lot of work in landing the local standout. The two other SEC programs cannot be dismissed either.
Will the Crimson Tide emerge as the front-runner in Burch’s recruitment after he visits Tuscaloosa or will Clemson be able to land the elite five-star defensive end, holding off other legitimate contenders in his recruitment?

FIRST TAKE: ANDREW BONE, BAMAINSIDER.COM
“Alabama has been in the race for a very long time. Everybody has been making their own assumptions on where he’s going to go even though he doesn’t talk about any of his favorites at all and doesn’t do any interviews. Everybody is trying to guess on what he’s going to do.
“Alabama has been in the race for him throughout the entire year. I don’t think it’s any surprise he’s going to make it back for the LSU game. Coming in that weekend for his official visit is going to be one of the best atmospheres in college football and maybe one of the best games of the season.
"There’s going to be a lot of excitement, a lot of top players coming in that weekend. Alabama is in the hunt for him, but I don’t think we’ll really know how good of a chance it has with him. We’ll find out more after that official visit.”
SECOND TAKE: MIKE FARRELL, RIVALS.COM
“It’s pretty hard to gauge when Burch isn’t giving interviews, but his mom is very involved in the process, so wherever he visits that’s not home they’re going to really have to impress her to make her feel comfortable.
“Alabama has a shot at anybody. They can recruit anybody. Nick Saban is the best recruiter out there, but I still think Clemson is the safest choice, so somebody is going to have to blow them away.”

The decision date is in for five-star tight end LINK ]Arik Gilbert. The Marietta (Ga.) product will announce his commitment on Wed., Oct. 23 (5 p.m. CT) during his All-American Bowl jersey ceremony at the College Football Hall of Fame.
Considered the nation’s No.1 tight end, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings, Gilbert is down to Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, and Texas A&M, in no particular order.
Gilbert has visited Tuscaloosa three times this year, as well as attended UA’s season-opener against Duke in Atlanta. “That I have a good opportunity to come in and play,” Gilbert recently said of Nick Saban’s pitch to him. “And that he could basically do with me the same thing he did with Irv (Smith Jr.) and OJ (Howard).”
The Tide received (on Oct 3-4) the last three 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions for the elite tight end who is coming off an official visit to Georgia over the weekend. Other programs that have received one of the five-star’s allotted trips are Alabama (June 14), Texas A&M (Sept. 20), and LSU (Oct. 12).

Gilbert is considered a priority target in the cycle, recruited by wide receivers coach Holmon Wiggins and special teams and tight ends coach Jeff Banks.
Tight end is arguably the biggest remaining need for UA in the 2020 cycle, and that’s already with Caden Clark on board in the class.
At 6-foot-5, 253 pounds, Gilbert is rated the No. 10 overall player in the county. Here is 247Sports’ tight end eval of the elite talent:
Long-limbed, muscular, v-shaped athlete with a frame that can continue to add lean mass naturally. Rare body. Brings mismatch ability to the tight end position with both size and athleticism. Can play attached or split out as a wide receiver. Adequate hands and ball skills. Has verified combine athleticism. First-off-the-bus type of athlete that is just better than everyone at this level but will need to refine technique on the next level. Power five impact player with first-round NFL Draft upside.
