Five 2020 safeties with the most interesting recruitments

quote:

Joel Williams

Contenders: Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee, Houston

Recruiting outlook: Williams seemed to be headed for Alabama throughout the summer, but that never materialized. A visit to Kentucky is coming up and the Wildcats have a chance to pick up a lot of momentum. Tennessee is in touch with Williams and it seems like Houston is positioning to be his fallback option.

Farrell’s take: Williams was going to commit to Alabama but his chance might be gone and Kentucky and Tennessee will battle this out. The Wildcats have the edge now.

Rivals Rankings: How Wommack's top 5 would look

quote:

2. ARIK GILBERT

Another incredible athlete, Gilbert could play tight end, defensive end or maybe even wide receiver at the next level. Much like Flowe, Gilbert at tight end doesn’t have the same positional value as some other prospects, but I wonder if that line of thinking will change with the way the game is more wide open in college and beyond. Gilbert is a matchup nightmare for defensive backs or linebackers, and he’s one of the best tight end prospects I’ve ever scouted.

5. BRYCE YOUNG

I know we have D.J. Uiagalelei as our No. 1 overall prospect, and it’s hard to argue with his upside as a prospect. But I think Young is showing this fall that he belongs in the discussion for the nation’s top quarterback. Young doesn’t have prototypical size, but as the game continues to evolve it’s clear that past trends no longer apply to future results when it comes to cookie-cutter quarterbacks. There’s a reason that Young was the No. 1 target for several coaches with an established record of producing quarterbacks and Young has a chance to be a star and be the next 6-foot-or-shorter quarterback to be mentioned among the nation’s elite.

I wonder who LSU will be going after as their backup plan in case 5* CB Elias Ricks flips?

What's the optimism with Ricks possibly flipping?

Seems to be pretty much just a wait and see what comes from his visits.

Good for him. But I have a sneaking suspicion he made end up signing with USCw when it's all said and done.

LINK ]4-Star LB Jordan Banks makes his decision (247Sports | video)
quote:

Harbor City (Cal.) Narbonne four-star linebacker LINK ]Jordan Banks announced his commitment to Arizona State just moments ago.

It has been an interesting recruitment for Banks. Back in July, he cut his list of schools down to four -- Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Washington. At one time, Alabama looked like a leader after Banks visited over the summer. Most recently, Washington appeared to be in a good spot and he was set to visit a few weeks ago.

When the visit was canceled, Banks decided to take a step back from his recruitment and re-evaluate his options. ASU quickly emerged and the talented linebacker decided he was ready to pull the trigger... (more)

Best wishes to Jordan!

It turned out that Banks didn't get a spot at his top four, so Coach Herm seized the opportunity and got him (per Greg Biggins in a VIP article).

What was the name of the all world lineman that signed with Georgia from Bama last year? Webb maybe? How is he doing there?
