Hopefully we are recruiting Rosemy hard. We need a tall skilled receiver in this class.
Rosemy,Fleming,E Williams if we land two of those we would be set. I really like R Jarrett too.

Five-star recruits Alabama is in mix for (BamaOnLine)

quote:

Nick Saban has made a habit of signing 5-star recruits in his tenure at Alabama.

In fact, the Crimson Tide has signed 46 5-star recruits since Saban’s first full recruiting cycle in 2008.

Here, BamaOnLine takes a look at the 5-star prospects Alabama is heavily in contention for at this juncture in the recruiting cycle.

Keep in mind, it’s way too early to write anybody off as a possibility. The following 5-star prospects are those that the Tide has already planted itself among the top contenders with early on.

ZACHARY EVANS, 5-STAR RB, HOUSTON (TEXAS) NORTH SHORE

Alabama signed the nation’s No. 1 running back in 2019 and is already among the top schools for Evans, not only the No. 1 running back but the No. 1 player in America. The Texas native has already visited Tuscaloosa more than once and is expected back at some point in the coming months. Texas currently leads the 247Sports Crystal Ball, but the Tide will have its chance to make its case for the elite ball carrier.

BRYAN BRESEE, 5-STAR SDE, DAMASCUS (MD.)

Alabama is already among Bresee’s top six schools and will likely get him on campus for an official visit in the spring. The nation’s No. 2 overall player has visited Tuscaloosa twice — once for camp in 2017 when he was offered and again for the Missouri game this past October. Bresee and new Tide outside linebackers coach Sal Sunseri have a close relationship.

JUSTIN FLOWE, 5-STAR ILB, UPLAND (CALIF.)

Alabama will turn to the West Coast for two of its top linebacker targets — Flowe and Sav’ell Smalls. The nation’s No. 1 inside linebacker had been close with Tosh Lupoi and hopes to get to know more of the staff at Alabama in the coming months. There’s a long way to go in this recruitment as the 5-star ‘backer is planning a number of visits this spring and summer before his official visits in the fall. Flowe told 247Sports’ Greg Biggins he plans to cut his list to 15 in the next few weeks.

SAV’ELL SMALLS, 5-STAR OLB, SEATTLE (WASH.) GARFIELD

The Tide has hosted the nation’s top outside linebacker twice already despite the distance from Seattle to Tuscaloosa. Tosh Lupoi left Alabama squarely in the mix for Smalls’ signature. New Tide offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian will be tasked with the job of landing Smalls.

JULIAN FLEMING, 5-STAR WR, CATAWISSA (PA.) SOUTHERN COLUMBIA

Fleming released his top six schools on Saturday night with Alabama making the cut. The nation’s No. 1 wide receiver has long considered the Tide a top choice despite his 247Sports Crystal Ball reading 82 percent in favor of Penn State. One advantage for Alabama is the Tide landed a preferred walk-on commitment from Fleming’s quarterback Stone Hollenbach — just one more person in his ear about UA.

ELIAS RICKS, 5-STAR CB, SANTA ANA (CALIF.) MATER DEI — LSU COMMIT

The nation’s No. 1 cornerback committed to LSU on Christmas Day, but is still planning to take visits elsewhere. Asked about Alabama in a recent interview with 247Sports’ Greg Biggins: “It’s Nick Saban, it’s Alabama, I have to go check them out. I’ve always wanted to see their program up close and see why they win so much. I just want to see what they’re about.”

ARIK GILBERT, 5-STAR ATH,
MARIETTA (GA.)

Georgia is the unanimous favorite on the 247Sports Crystal Ball, but schools like Alabama, Clemson and Tennessee are keeping it close. The Tide needs a strong year at tight end and the 6-foot-5, 248-pound Gilbert along with current UA commit Caden Clark would certainly makeup the top class at the position in 2020. Gilbert visited Alabama this weekend for Junior Day.

KENDALL MILTON, 5-STAR RB, CLOVIS (CALIF.) BUCHANAN

Alabama will get the nation’s No. 2 running back on campus for the first time on April 16 when the 5-star back makes the trek out from California. Milton is close with Tide running back Najee Harris and has long admired the UA program.

MEKHAIL SHERMAN, 5-STAR OLB, WASHINGTON (D.C.) ST. JOHN’S COLLEGE

St. John’s College has been good to the Tide in recent cycles with players like Terrell Lewis and now Keilan Robinson. Sherman, a player comparable to Lewis’ skillset at the high school level, has Alabama among his top seven at this juncture and says the Tide’s loss of his primary recruiter Mike Locksley will not affect how he views the program.

ANTOINE SAMPAH, 5-STAR ILB, WOODBRIDGE (VA.)

Alabama is turning to Da’Shawn Hand’s high school once again for an elite defensive talent. Sampah, the nation’s No. 2 inside linebacker, is heavily considering the Crimson Tide and plans to be back to Tuscaloosa for a multi-day stay this spring. New Tide outside linebacker coach Sal Sunseri is a big addition for UA’s efforts to land Sampah. A decision come could come late spring or early summer.

JORDAN BURCH, 5-STAR SDE, COLUMBIA (S.C.) HAMMOND SCHOOL

It’s not entirely clear where the Tide stands for Burch at this time after offering earlier this month, but good news for Alabama is that the staff got the nation’s No. 17 overall player on an unofficial visit this weekend for Junior Day. Clemson is the 247Sports Crystal Ball favorite at this point in time, but the Tide certainly has Burch’s attention.

CHRIS BRASWELL, 5-STAR WDE, BALTIMORE (MD.) ST. FRANCES ACADEMY — ALABAMA COMMIT

The Tide offered Braswell last spring and landed his commitment during a visit for the Iron Bowl this past season. Braswell is yet another big-time talent that Alabama has landed from St. Frances Academy, joining Eyabi Anoma, Shane Lee and Darrian Daclourt. Mike Locksley’s departure did not affect Braswell’s commitment to this point. He is familiar with new UA defensive line coach Brian Baker.

Another top talent from St. John’s College, Jarrett has long considered Alabama among his top contenders. When asked whether Mike Locksley leaving the Tide staff would affect the Tide’s chances, Jarrett said, “Nah, Saban is the GOAT.”

MCKINNLEY JACKSON, 5-STAR DT, LUCEDALE (MISS.) GEORGE COUNTY

Alabama could very well be in the driver’s seat in Jackson’s recruitment at this time, although he hasn’t said it. UA hosted the nation’s top defensive lineman for Junior Day last month and is a very serious contender to land the Magnolia State native. The additions of defensive line coach Brian Baker and outside linebackers coach Sal Sunseri give Jackson that much more familiarity with the Tide staff. He plans to return in the spring.

REGGIE GRIMES, 5-STAR WDE, MOUNT JULIET (TENN.)

Grimes, the son of former Alabama defensive lineman Reggie Grimes, is taking his time with the recruiting process but has admitted that Alabama will be a top choice until the very end. The Tide’s ultimate competition could come down to Clemson. The do-it-all 5-star plans to visit Tuscaloosa again for a spring practice.

DARNELL WASHINGTON, 5-STAR TE, LAS VEGAS (NEV.) DESERT PINES

The Tide is still on the hunt for more tight end help in its 2019 class and Washington is one of the key targets at this time. Special teams and tight ends coach Jeff Banks was in Vegas during the contact period and UA will more than likely snag a visit at some point. Washington is taking the process slow.

2020 is a strong running backs class and Tyree is yet another example of why. The top all-purpose back in America plans to be on campus at Alabama on March 1 for the first time. New UA running backs coach Charles Huff has the Tide squarely in the mix for Tyree’s signature.

OTHER 5-STARS THINGS COULD PROGRESS WITH IN THE COMING WEEKS …

Marcus Rosemy — The 5-star wide receiver doesn’t have an Alabama offer but grew up liking the Tide and would consider UA a top school should the staff come after him.

Demarkcus Bowman — Another 5-star back, Bowman plans to visit UA this spring.

Demond Demas — The 5-star Texas A&M commit is firm with the Aggies but still plans to take visits elsewhere. Alabama has already hosted him once in the past.

DJ Uiagalelei — Carson Beck recently decommitted from Alabama, leaving the Tide with a need at the quarterback position. Could UA make a push behind new offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian?
