LINK ]Jordan Banks CBd to Bama by 247 west region analyst Greg Biggins: "I think Bama is definitely the team to beat for Banks right now. The question will be if they still have room by the time he's ready to commit."

quote:

Harbor City (Calif.) Narbonne linebacker  LINK ]Jordan Banks took an unofficial visit to Alabama over the weekend and the Tide made a big impression.

Banks visited Alabama a year ago and the Tide have been on his short list ever since. This time around, his father joined him on the trip and Banks said both had a great visit.

“I really enjoyed being around the coaching staff and the hospitality they showed me,” Banks said. “They showed me a lot of love and I really love it out there. It’s not just the football program, it’s the school itself that stands out for me.

“Alabama is the biggest thing going on there, it’s a total football town and everyone there loves Bama football. I really connected well with the coaching staff and I like how I fit in there and how they plan to use me.”

Banks went in a little more depth on his overall scheme fit. “They see me as a inside ‘backer,” Banks said. “I played everywhere last year at Narbonne but I’m going to be playing middle ‘backer this year too. They feel I can be the quarterback of the defense, call out the plays, get the guys lined up correctly and I love that responsibility and feel I can definitely handle it.

“They had a camp going on and I did a few drills with coach Pete (Golding, DC) and it was good to work with him. He pointed out some things for me and gave me some good feedback. He’s a great coach and I’m really comfortable with the whole staff. Coach Sark is my lead recruiter and we talk all the time. That’s my guy right there, he’s more than a coach, he hits me up just to see how I’m doing and I’m really comfortable with him.”

Banks was able to spend time with head coach Nick Saban as well. “My dad and I had a really good meeting with him in his office,” Banks said. “We met last year but this time around, it was more comfortable for me and coach Saban was more open as well. He talked about the opportunities at Alabama, how well I would fit in there and it was definitely an honor to have that opportunity to sit and talk with a coach like that.

“My dad loved it there, he loves Alabama football and how they handle their business. I’m planning to come out with a top five soon and Alabama will definitely be on my list. There are so many positives with the program and I really loved it there.”

Along with Bama, Banks said he knows a few other schools who will definitely make the cut. “Washington, Ohio State and Oklahoma will be in my top five as well,” Banks said. “I already took an official visit to Oklahoma and loved it there. I’m going to try and set up official visits with the other three schools soon here. Right now, I don’t have a 5th school locked in. There are a lot of schools I’m looking at but those four stand out the most for me.

"If I have to just name a top four, that’s what I’ll do and I have a really good relationship with all four of those programs right now. I would like to make my decision sometime in November. I don’t want to rush in to anything. This is such a huge decision for me and I want to make sure I find a school that will not only help me be a better football player but a better person as well."

We have 4 OLB commits but only 2 ILB commits. We need at least 1 more ILB and might take 2 more. We didn't land enough ILBs in the last two cycles.

Inside Linebacker (7) *=redshirt
SR: Joshua McMillon*
JR: Dylan Moses
SO: Markail Benton*, Jaylen Moody, Ale Kaho
FR: Shane Lee, Christian Harris

We'll lose Moses and McMillan. It's an injury prone position. We need to have 8 ILBs on the roster.

Didn’t Kaho withdraw after the spring semester?

I don't think that's been finalized.

Surge, to the best of your knowledge, what is the situation with Kaho at this moment?

I’m guessing a couple of the OLB targets are seen by our staff as possibly being able to play inside and rush the passer like with Kennedy. I think Jordan might be one of those. That’s the only thing that makes sense considering our need at ILB, and the only real ILB that we are targeting is Flowe.

I haven't seen anything other than speculation by fans about Kaho since it was initially reported that he was thinking about quitting football. A few minutes ago I did a google search for news on his name and there's nothing since then.

Wow... Legitimately thought that dude was going to be a true impact player, even before he switched things up to head to Ttown. Hopefully he gets right... Whatever that means to him... Football future or not.

I haven't seen the recruiting sites or "insider" BOL posters mention any of our four OLB commits as having the versatility to play ILB except for Sanders, but a 6-5 ILB is rare. Perhaps Braswell and Anderson (both are 6-3) have the potential to play ILB. In addition to Flowe, Jordan Banks' natural position is ILB.

Yeah, that was one of the OLBs that I was thinking was been seen as a potential ILB. But I would think even if the staff sees Jordan as an ILB, we still need a couple more in this class since Flowe isn't a 100% sure get (even though we have a good shot). Now if the staff sees Sanders as a possibility at ILB, then we might be in a good position to target only Flowe going forward.

I don't know why 247Sports lists Jordan Banks as an OLB. At his height (6-1) it should be ILB. Banks has the green light to commit. Bama isn't slow playing him to wait on Flowe. They'll take both if they can land both.

Banks better not wait around. Spots in this class are at a premium.

I agree. I suppose if Flowe and a some other top targets committed before Banks, he could be at risk of losing a spot.

I haven't heard anything about Kaho leaving. But, Saban is smart and he's likely made plans if Kaho is to leave prematurely.

Kaho is unstable at best.

We shouldn't even consider him as depth considering tomorrow he could have another episode.

FWIW, Kaho was listed in the recent BOL article regarding who gained/lost weight since the Spring. I assume that means he is still on the team.

Six new FutureCast picks from Chad Simmons

quote:

ATLANTA — At an event like this, you not only come into direct contact with the recruits, but a lot of people close to them are there as well. Recruiting talk always comes up, and after spending a couple of days at the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge presented by adidas, and putting all the chatter from different sources together, I have made six new FutureCast picks on Rivals.com.

Safety Xavion Alford

There has been a lot of buzz for months around LSU, with Texas A&M in making a push too with Alford, but after hearing the chatter around his recruitment for a couple of days, my pick goes to Alabama. A decision may not be imminent for Alford, and he is expected to take official visits first, but the buzz was truly around Alabama in Atlanta. His versatility appeals to the Crimson Tide.
