2019 Rivals 5-Star Challenge: RB/TE vs. LB 1-on-1 drill (video)

They didn't list who was in it, but I assume Arik Gilbert, Javon Baker and a few other targets are shown.

I view him as if we signed a JUCO OL.

TEXAS A&M

The pick: Vernon Broughton, Zach Evans and Jaquelin Roy

Why: "We're recruiting Vernon, we're working on Zach (Evans) and Jaquelin Roy, who dropped his top three. It's the train, the train in the station is rolling. I'm on everybody right now and I like how the Internet breaks when A&M gets a commit." -- Rivals250 CB Jaylon Jones

The pick: Zach Evans

Why: "We're working on Zach Evans. He can come in and play, and he'll be a good addition to our class -- Rivals100 WR Troy Omeire

So for the 10th year in a row, according to Rivals' predictions, we're getting NOBODY (except maybe some in-state 3*s). At least they're consistent.

To be fair, these predictions were made by other recruits, not Rivals' writers.

Drake got abused. Breese is a grown man. Too be that big and strong, he is still pretty dang quick.

That Savion Collins kid looked awful. Got stonewalled the majority of the time with no push at all.

Javon Baker plays like a big WR, made some nice catches too with Major Burns draped on him.

We keep worrying about Bakers speed and he just keeps dominating camps.

I do worry about him in actual 11 on 11 when he has to win in more complex coverage than 1 on 1's, but damn if he isn't a beast in those situations.

Williams looked good. He looks a ittle stiffer than others imo.

I think those are more worries of a pure speed guy, Baker is actually showing a knack for breaks and seperation.

I can see him doing a doing a lot of damage underneath and moving the chains.

Kid ran some good routes. He may not run the 4.4, but he has great feet

What up TS and other assorted Tide fans. Been a while since I checked in, figured I'd say hey.

I got a good chuckle out of that article opener...

"The Annual Operation Slow Nick Saban Down Dead Period kicked in Monday at midnight, meaning all contact with recruits must cease so that coaches at lesser programs can do such frivolous things such as spending time with their families instead of watching 17-year olds go through blocking drills."

Decent read, but figured I'd check in to see what the latest thoughts were from the Bama side of what seems like a smaller pool of recruits that we're both in the mix for this year that usual (maybe incorrect, but seems that way)...

Article seems to mention Clemson/USC for Burch but I know that our staff is in the mix here... not sure how much though given that the kid is pretty notoriously quiet as a recruit. You guys hear anything more on him than the article lets on?

Nadab Joseph - Seems like latest info I've seen is that Bama leads here, but any ideas where he sits on the board for you all? Curious since (at least as I understand it) he'd be a freebie for us as an IC but would take a 2020 spot for you guys

RB:
Milton - Seems like we should be in the lead here by most accounts, but not sure if there was any feeling that you guys may have swung things your direction from final visit
Evans - I'm still not sold we're all that much in the mix here as I'm not sold that he want's to be part of a 2 elite back incoming class, but our insiders keep mentioning him, so can add him to the mix of players to ask about. Any feelings there on y'alls end or about the same as everyone else still... wait and see later in the year where the visits/attention happens?

LB
Flowe - Seems like he's trending Clemson. Haven't heard our name in relation to him in a while... You guys in the mix here or Dabo and crew have the hooks in here?
Sewell - Seems where we're focusing our efforts for one of likely only 2 LB spots... not sure where Bama stands in this one though.

TEs - I'll just group them together as it seems like we're hoping for 2 of Arik Gilbert, Darnell Washington, Theo Johnson, and lower down the board, Cam Large... Article mentions DW for you guys. I thought I'd seen something about a recent visit from Gilbert for you guys too... Any intel from that visit?

Holy hell... Just got tossed around like a rag doll.

Bryan Bresee just manhandled everyone I saw him go up against... Wish we could have landed his gf in Athens. I guess one thing is still undefeated...

Burch's and his mom's recent visit put Bama in the mix too. Watts said Clemson is hardly a lock to get him, with SC trending more than Clemson lately, along with UGA and Bama also being legit contenders.

Joseph is a take for Bama and reportedly is the early frontrunner for him.

Bama made up ground on UGA for Milton, but probably not enough. Bama leads for Evans. I think Milton will commit to the Dawgs soon and Evans will commit to Bama, maybe pretty soon as well.

Sewell's interest in Bama doesn't seem very high. Bama is in it for Flowe. His OV to Bama is set for Sept 20.

Gilbert did visit and it went well. He likes Bama a lot, but it appears we're trailing UT and UGA for him. Bama leads for Washington and Reggie Grimes -- and might take both if there's room.
