I guess I was thinking that if we beat A&M we will have to play in a play-in game for an 11 seed spot. Is there another way we get in?

Ah got ya - yea I agree. Technically that play-in game is a NCAA Tournament game, but yea I think you are right.

We'd probably need to beat Auburn and A&M to avoid playing in Dayton.

Assuming Bama goes 1-1...

While beating TAMU potentially gives you another Q1 win** keep in mind that Bama could conceivably lose quite a few Q1 games

Alabama Games at risk of moving to Q2

v TAMU (H) - RD1 loss to Bama puts them at 28, right at the edge
v Texas (N) - Win v Iowa St + Loss v Texas Tech puts them at 51, a Q2 game
v Miss St (A) - MSU loss to LSU puts them at 86 a Q2 game
v Arkansas (H) - RD1 Win + RD2 Loss to UF puts them at 32 a Q2 game

Alabama games that can move to Q1 with just 1 win

-v UF - Win v Arky, L to TN
-v OU - Some scenario of winning for a change

Yeah that’s another dagger in the pro Avery argument: our Quadrant 1 wins. Several of those wins are teetering on falling to Q2 and aren’t as impressive as we made them out to be. Did we catch a few teams at a good time when they were a little overrated? The schedule was tough but it’s not as tough as it was in Nov.

We are #5 in SOS per RPI metrics and #15 in SOS per KenPom metrics. Our schedule was very tough, top to bottom. We had 1, maybe 2 games that were total show up and it's in the bag games (AAMU).

That isn't an excuse for this season, but our overall schedule strength isn't really up for debate.

Mercer and La Tech should have been show up and the game's in the bag type of games too.

Yeah we all expected more but let's not start picking apart our schedule, that's a lame argument. It was one of the toughest in the country. The committee values tough scheduling and rewards it enough wins are there.

The fact that we still have a "win 1 game" opportunity at this junction of the season just reiterates why, in almost all situations outside of a demoralized program just needing confidence, it always pays to play a well rounded, tough schedule (and helps to have a well rounded league).

If we substitute BYU, Lipscomb and UTA for Texas State, Gardner-Webb, Stetson we are not in the conversation right now.

Playing in solid tournaments, programs that are always in the Top 3-4 in their mid-major league and 2-3 big OOC games is IMHO the perfect scheduling setup.

BTW, call me a curmudgeon but I will not give Avery credit for making the dance if it's just an appearance in Dayton.

That's like getting credit for becoming bowl eligible when you have 5 wins and the NCAA gives you a waiver to play in a bowl game.

I can understand the arguments for keeping Avery past this year even if I do not agree with them.

However, I do not understand how anyone can down vote the above quote.

So, Wimp went with the team to Florida and we played one of our best games of the year.

Wimps teams almost always played well in the SEC tourney.

Can Wimp travel with the team this week and maybe even sit on the sideline?

Somewhere there's a joke about hitting all of our players in the head to see if it knocks any sense into them.....

I will tell you this much - if we start turning the ball over and have no offensive flow, King Cullman better get some run.

He's not perfect but he without a doubt adds some spark to the offense.

At this point, what does it hurt? He should have let him play more in the previous games.

They are #6 in the SEC in SOC according to KenPom.

Bama's KenPom SOS is built on having played in the SEC and not due to the OOC scheduling

Avery Jr is in here down voting everything positive about Lawson. It's ok Lil Avery, you're getting a free education for sucking. Most folks only get 50 bucks and a bad taste in their mouth.

That's pretty misleading, considering that a large chunk of the Top 50 are SWAC/MEAC/ASun type teams that play 10 money games.

Alabama had the 14th toughest OOC schedule of teams in the ACC/American/B-East/B10/B12/P12/SEC.
