He doesn’t come across as a ball hog to me either . Actually wished he would shoot more from the outside bc most of his points come from transition layups and free throws

We don't deserve a bid, it is sickening.
I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t care if we back into a bid or not. Sure, I’d change my tune if we suddenly get on a miracle run but this team has collapsed. Making the NCAA Tournament is the goal and it beats the NIT. However, losing 5 or 6 in a row to end the year en route to getting bounced in the first round does nothing for me and my hopes that the program has a bright future.

Whatever the reasons are for any internal or locker room issues, whoever is to blame
We don't even know that there are any internal or locker room issues. We're speculating over a Tweet from some random guy, along with early season claims from people that claim to be in the know. Fact is, none of us know what goes on in the locker room or at practice.
We can watch effort and attitude during actual games though, and the body language of this team when things go bad is absolutely pathetic. And it's been like that in almost every game we've lost, and has been especially worse in a couple of players.

If it's honestly this easy to make the tournament, wtf have we been doing the past decade? We're 2 game over .500 and in.

I think the "experts" are just really sold on how deep and good the SEC is this year, and Bama has a handful of really good wins on their resume. 5-6 years ago with this record and we would be on the NIT bubble.

This is all on Avery. Anyone who thinks we should keep Avery based on a recruiting cycle or to lessen the risk of transfers is just lying to themselves.
At this point, we are hitching our wagon to a lame duck coach. We all know what's going to happen next year, if it doesn't take place this year. Just rip the bandaid off and let's see what happens. It can't be worse than delaying the inevitable

I remember Gongora in the past has had really good info on the team. I think he has an inside source, or at least I believe he does if I remember right.
I want to believe we match up better against A&M than we did Florida or Arkansas, but I just can't imagine us winning after how we've played the last three games (I think we played pretty well against UK).
I remember some people saying that they were actually more excited for basketball season than they were football season, and I was one of them. This season has just been devastating and I have lost all faith in this team and Avery to be the one who can lead us to consistent tournament appearances. I know he won't be gone after this season, but man I wish we would just go ahead and fire him.

Kind of fricked if we do and fricked if we don't

I'm not there yet, but pretty close. I don't have any faith he'll get us any league titles or deep NCAAt runs though. I've resigned myself to the fact that we're not going to fire him after this season, so hopeful he can figure it out for next season. Even without Sexton, we have a lot of talent coming back if nobody transfers.
And they can still get it together and steal one Saturday and win one or two in the SEC tourney to play themselves back into the tournament. Not trying to be a bling sunshine pumper as I see where we are after the last 3 games, but this team is still a dangerous team when they play well.

NIT game notwithstanding, if Bama has another home game this year, what type attendance would there be? I bet no more than 8000 would show up, after what happened last night.
Terrible.
Terrible.

I don't think they are lying to themselves. I think they're just being naive.

Yeah the league being strong is helping our case and it bears repeating we have a bunch of quality wins. Soft schedule has hurt us in the past and I'd rather back in due to a tough schedule than pile up 21 wins against mostly nobodies and not sniff the dance. Spleen is right that we've seen these guys are capable just gotta want it.

I thought and said that we should have looked hard at Howland before we hired AJ. Jury is still out IMHO.
Not sure what the problem is but there is no chemistry except bad on this team.
I agree with those that say play lawson. At least he hustles.
Key and Ingram are basically turn over machines. Sit them.

I saw no want last night. Other than Sexton getting upset at himself for missing easy layups, did you see one guy look like last night bothered them? Nobody getting in the face of their teammates, telling them to get their head out of their arse. Nobody showing any emotion whatsoever.
They all have the same dazed look where they look up to the ceiling and job back down the court.

Not disagreeing with u, point is they have to want it. I saw more frustration than anything. I'd take 10 Collin Sextons every day of the week. I don't recall him getting a technical or getting into a fight. He's an old school competitor and shouldn't have to apologize or be blamed on anything. The kid has passion and has never stopped encouraging teammates ...Swagger has to be managed but I've never seen him embarrass himself or the team.
Posted on 2/28/18 at 11:56 am to Bamainva40
I refuse to blame Sexton. If teammates have a problem then that's something the coach needs to handle.

The issue with the team right now is lack of leadership. That's where we need Hall/Ingram/Johnson Jr to step up and speak up. We haven't seen much of that from the guys on the team. There are tension between players and it shows on the court. I've been saying that for a while that Sexton is very good player, but he just don't mesh well with other. They have played well without Sexton this season...

And a lot of people did. Hell, I didn't think it would be a bad hire. But given an option between the two now, and I'll take Avery all day. At least you can say Avery is dealing with one of the youngest teams in the nation and has little to no experience dealing with that kind of youth. Ben Howland is a very seasoned head coach and hasn't sniffed the tournament yet at State and is very unlikely to sniff it again this year. It's not like you can expect a seasoned college head coach to get better as they go. I at least have some faith that Avery can get better and the team can get better with some seasoning. Howland is closing in on becoming the next washed-up head coach, if he's not already there.

I think he meshes fine , I don't but reasoning because we've shown what we can do. They played well without him because they had no choice but to step up. They should be bringing the same passion he brings and that's not on him to motivate them.
