Yeah I don’t really agree with it either. Let’s just win Tuesday night and lock up our spot

I don't think winning Tuesday locks up anything. I would think we'd also have to either beat A&M or win a game or two in the sec tourney.

I won’t feel good until we win 2 more games. That’s a lock in my mind. But so many of these bracketologists are acting like we’re STILL in good position and basically saying we shouldn’t miss the tourney. That makes me feel like they would probably consider 18 a lock. Who knows tho

In my mind, we lose our next 3 games, end the year on a 6 game losing steak, and don't make the NIT. Buckle up and tough schedule though.

CBS has Bama as an 11 seed

In case you missed it, I looked up Avery’s contract. I don’t know if anything changed with the 2 year extension he just signed this past August, but unless we have cause, Avery isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. His buyout this year is $5 million, $4 million next year and $3 million in 2020. Battle really fricked us again. Alabama won’t pay that kind of money to fire a basketball coach that’s making it on the bubble every year. A Hobbs type performance and maybe they pony up. But Avery is doing just well enough to stay employed for the foreseeable future. That really breaks my heart. Alabama basketball has been relegated to mediocrity or worse for at least 3 to 5 more years.

I already pitched the self imposed sanctions path to a $0 buyout

actually think Lunardi is pretty good. He's better than Palm.
That's like saying Jeremy Johnson was a pretty good QB because he wasn't Keihl Frazier

Lol, why was Ingram running point last night for almost half the game? Why did Sexton go basically 5 minutes into the game without taking a shot?
Nothing surprises me anymore with this team.
I'm not the sort of fan to really rant and exaggerate but our offense looks downright awful.
I'm also not anywhere near ready to join in the voices to replace Avery since I think his energy and recruiting have the program in the best place it's been in well over a decade.
However, I think ultimately the offensive woes are mainly due to his system and how effectively he's teaching it. I'm not blaming player's effort since the defense is good and that should take more "motivation" and "effort" than offense.
I'm not a coach and realize that anyone who is knows a lot more than me. However, I do know enough to see that it's a hell of a lot easier to defend a offense that
1) above all just moves the ball so slowly
2) throws half of its passes back and forth on the perimeter without even looking a moving team mate in a scoring/driving/shooting position.
3) and maybe that's because there's always three players off the ball not moving at all at almost any given time.
In the big picture it probably matters much less what style an offense is as long as it's quick and decisive. Ours is anything but.
I would seriously rather see Johnson make a mandate that a shot has to be taken in the first 10 second across half court and watch some bad shots but at least see the players trying to be quick and get the opposing defenses moving around and maybe a bit off-balance.

Actually think Hall has come a LONG way since he was a freshman
Serious question, how much of that is development? I'd say his production is from getting more minutes, standard experience and having someone like Sexton on the floor.
The only two meaningfully improved metrics of Hall are FG% and Fouls / 40m. Considering Hall doesn't create for himself in the half court, I'd argue his FG% is attributed more to Sexton setting him up / taking D attention
Other than FG%/Fouls, Hall's numbers aren't radically different for most categories

You've got the unemployed successful coaches Tom Crean and Thad Matta
I thought Crean would be a great hire before this FBI stuff. He'd be an amazing hire after the FBI stuff. He ran a clean program at a high level

Maybe we could get a guy like Eric Musselman (Nevada) from a mid major that's had a lot of success
If you are going midmajor, Steve Forbes is the way to go. He completely breathed life into ETSU and is on his 3rd straight 20+ Win season.
I've heard from many knowledgeable bball people that said Steve Forbes was the most important piece to the Bruce Pearl UTk years. Quite a few people were worried that we weren't getting him in Auburn when we hired Bruce
As for rising assistant coach talent, Auburn's interim Assoc HC Harris Adler is going to be an elite coach. Auburn is lucky that no team is smart enough to hire him as a HC

Going for the triple post
Don't think this matters that much if you don't have reliable 3PT shooters
In the AU game, we just sold out hard to hedge Sexton and defend the roll. As long as we had an even halfway reasonable closeout on the outside shot we were fine

I have no energy for Tuesday. Whatever. If they win, cool. If they don't, well, yea, duh.

Slowly getting better, but they need to make the tournament get year. However, what she inherited makes what Anthony Grant left behind look like what Saban left Miles. She was basically handed the keys to a real life burning hot dumpster on fire.
Outside of the first overachievement year they've gotten slightly better each year and this year finally stopped getting blown out against good teams.
2015 : 13-19 (2-14)
2016 : 15-16 (4-12)
2017 : 22-14 (5-11)
2018 : 17-12 (7-9)
As for the men.............

Beat UT in Knoxville for the first time ever. Curry is getting us there one step at a time. Steady improvement from truly terrible. If Avery was improving like she was, we’d be a Sweet 16 team.
