It's pretty simple. If he says that we all look around and say "alright, it was bad, lets get them Saturday". You just laid a big fat egg against your biggest rival in their gym shorthanded in one of the biggest games of the year. You don't get to walk out and say "well hey, we split, right?".

Again, NBA mentality. If you're the 4 or 5 seed from the East and you split your regular season games with Golden State you'd be thrilled and wouldn't give a frick if they pounded you 115-80 in Oakland.

I understand Avery is playing mental gymnastics with a young team, but it's the last week of February. It's time to go. These guys have played at Rupp, Auburn, Florida and Arizona. They've played 28 basketball games together. The effort tonight can be publically noted as dogshite and they should be mentally tough enough to respond in the right way.
If they aren't, then we have much bigger issues.

It would've been one thing to get pounded by a healthy Auburn too. We got pounded by an Auburn team with 7 scholarship players.

Yea, I get that, but he's been coaching in the SEC for 3 seasons now.
It'd be one thing if we were 19-9 right now and solidly in the NCAA Tournament. I'd be pissed as shite about losing this game this way, but that "mindset" would make some sense.
We're fighting to make the NCAAT right now. This is more akin to being 2 games up on the 9 seed and going out and laying an egg with 4 games left in the season. That team is still fighting to even make the playoffs.

Yea - like I said before, I'm trying not to preemptively melt on missing the NCAAT...........but if we do.........I'm not sure he realizes how ugly things will be.

Can't dwell on this one, players and fans have to move on. We beat Tennessee worse than this and they responded. Sometimes a good butt kicking helps.

I have this theory that Petty only plays well when he's high. He's so shitty on the road because he can't sneak any onto the team bus.

Did they? They squeaked out a 3 point home win against South Carolina then lost by 11 at Georgia.
