Ya, they didn't call shite on drives in the paint for either team really. If AU doesnt get calls in the paint and cold outside, it is going to be a long night.
Auburns size usually isn't a huge problem. Lately, AU has had a really hard time getting shots in the paint off though which is very concerning

Hell, someone literally accused me if sunshine pumping for Bama last week
I will admit I openly talk shite about Avery Jr getting minutes, but that's a popular opinion. I'm not sold on Avery but I did say it isn't fair to judge him w a young team

Never said Auburn was a world beater. I wouldn't give us a shot beating a Duke

We've been fortunate to have an easier schedule record wise, but this AU team started SEC 4-0 by multiple double digits wins
Hard to say that is a fluke

Avery is in year 3 and it's still not clear he is the answer but there are times when you see he could be The Man.
The barn better hope that a real basketball school isn't in the market for a coach after the season.

What is frustrating is that we should be sitting pretty at 14-4 right now, possibly 13-3, if we make FTs against UCF, Vandy and Zona. If we play to the best of our abilities going forward, we can finish 8-5 in these last 13. That would put us at 20-11.

I agree, the win last night was huge for us, if we follow it up Saturday with a winnable game, we may be able to get 20 wins or more.

They didn't call anything on drives, correct. But y'all weren't "cold" from outside. AU shot just a tick below their season average from 3.
Also, you didn't talk crap before this game (at least not on this board). For those thinking he did, I believe a near direct quote from Gene was "so I totally expect Auburn to choke"

Before the season most of the basketball talking heads thought a winning record in the SEC would get Alabama in the dance.

Yep - and if we go 10-8 in the SEC we are almost certainly going to make the tournament. That won't be easy, though.

We have 13 games left, and all we probably have to do is go 7-6 over those games. That's easier said than done though. It's pretty easy to find 6 losses left on our schedule.
Games from least to greatest difficulty in my opinion
1. Miss State
2. LSU
3. Arkansas
4. @Miss State
5. @Ole Miss
6. UT
7. Mizzou
8. Florida
9. @TAMU
10. @Auburn
11. Oklahoma
12. @Kentucky
13. @Florida
Those 7 "easiest" games are pretty darn hard.

Our schedule gets tougher and tougher, no doubt. Can't even begin to describe how much the win over AU helps. Absolutely huge.
The upcoming 4 game stretch is really big. We really need to win the next 2. That'd land us at 14-6 (6-2). If we could somehow knockoff Oklahoma, that's a massive resume builder, and Missouri would be a big win. We have what it takes to sweep these next 4, but it'll be extremely tough. These next 4 will definitely show us if we have gained any consistency as a team.

Yep - no room for error. It is pretty crazy how good the league is across the board this season. No easy wins unless you play Vanderbilt at home, really (or maybe South Carolina at home).

I think we beat:
MSU
Florida (1)
LSU
State(2)
Ole Miss
Auburn
Mizzou or UT

If we finish 7-6, I think we're in safely, regardless of the tournament. As long as we can get to 19 period, I think we're good. 18 wins would definitely land us on a bubble.

I think we get in comfortably with a 9-9 SEC record if we can pull off an upset win over Oklahoma. We'd have plenty of Top 50 wins and an RPI at worst in the low to mid 30s. Just need to lose no more than 2 more homes and pick up a road win somewhere along the way and we're golden imho.

Yes, but the road win @LSU helped a ton.
Now doing nothing more than holding serve at home in conference (I know, easier said than done) would get us to 18.
I'm pretty confident that if we do that and steal a single road or tourney win we'll be in.

Is Sexton/Hall limited or out for the MSU game too?
MSU can't shoot, but they are ridiculously athletic and can finish around the rim. They can't put it together to win regularly, but from an athleticism standpoint they are definitely up there

I would imagine Hall will be around 15 minutes. Avery said they'll update Sexton's status on Friday. He's "day-to-day", so if that's really true, he'd probably play some on Saturday.

If Sexton is limited, I'd be concerned about penetrating drives by MSU.
Against AU, Bama struggled with letting AU ball handlers blow by them into the lane. Fortunately for Bama, Donta Hall is an elite shot blocker + AU interior shooting all year has looked like Phillip Seymour Hoffman in Along Came Polly. MSU is just as athletic as AU but bigger/absorb contact well + have been elite finishers around the rim all year.
Fortunately for Bama, MSU can't hit FTs, can't shoot and can't figure out how to play a complete game.

Gene, does AU lose anyone after this year?
