Saw it live. Welcome to Memorial. Reminds me of Jamychal Green being called out of bounds when he was in by a good 3-4 inches.
Yep, that is how playing @Vandy works. I said it earlier, but nobody should expect to win there. Some of Wimp’s best teams got their arses kicked there by Vandy teams that never sniffed the postseason. I was legitimately surprised to have a chance at the end. My expectation was a double digit loss.

My expectations for this team is the NIT again but maybe they go past the 2nd round. Anything more would be gravy.

Teamrankings says we'd probably get in with 19 wins and have a shot with only 18.
@Kentucky is the only game we have no shot in imo.
We're going to have a lot of close games. I think as fans it'll be more enjoyable to just take it one game at a time and not try to project forward too much.

Not sure I see it with <20W if TAMU doesn't return to peak form or picking up a few high quality neutral/road win.

By Kentucky standards, their team this year is trash. I think 12-6 is probably their ceiling in conf play. With UK playing a likely healthy @TAMU, @Auburn and TN leading up, that should be a winnable game

I tried hard last night but I couldn't de-melt. I told myself all day we were gonna lose but even that couldn't help.

I was good until we got it close late, then I melted when we couldn't finish the game. I'd have been a whole lot more content if we'd just taken our normal @Vandy whipping and went about our business but NO, they had to get my hopes up and then crush them.

You just have to accept that Vandy's wonky gym is where opponents lose games against inferior teams
Since 2002 Alabama vs Vandy
Coleman - Alabama 5W , Vandy 4W
Memorial Pagan Gym - Alabama 1W , Vandy 8W

Why stop at 2008? You can go back to 1978 and it probably won't be much different.....

Wasnt the foot out of bounds with 6 seconds left reviewable?? One of our coaches saw it and I was wondering why they didnt get Avery to ask for a review.
No guarantee we score and win but we fricking got robbed of an opportunity to.

Like JustGetIt said we've lost there for many years pre-2002.

If we get to 19 I'd be very surprised if we're not in. You'd be hard pressed to find a 19 win team with our SOS not making the tournament in the several past seasons.

I don’t believe that you can review a play that wasn’t whistled dead. That’s what my ref buddy told me, but that might be an NBA only rule.

Starting to get really jealous of the other programs in the league. Will Wade looks like a pretty good hire at LSU, even though they barely lost tonight to UK.

I’m not seeing 10-6 for Kentucky down the stretch. Not when they still have eight at home. I’d say that’s more of their floor than their ceiling even though they aren’t a dominant team by any means.
The league is weird this year.

The problem is that Bama would have any marquee wins nor road wins in what I suggested above. Of the 19W teams that make it in, they all have some elite level wins. I think 20W (including SECT) gets you in, and that is very very doable for Alabama
Also, on the SOS note, the strength of Bama's SOS is built a lot based on 10 OOC opponents having 9+ W/winning records. There are some alarming trends developing that if they continue won't bode well for Bama
-UT-Arl: Lost consecutive games to Coastal Car + App St which should be wins
-Mercer: Lost 5/7 including a few they should have won
-Memphis: 3g losing streak KenPom predicted losing record
-Texas: KenPom/TeamRanks predicted 18-13
- LaTech: 2g losing streak including double digit L to inferior Marshall
Fortunately for Bama, teams like UCF are proving to be winners, TAMU should eventually regain form and BYU/Rhode Island should be safe from too many upset in their conference play

Have you looked at our SEC Schedule? That would require us getting at least 9 more wins and then we would have to have 2 more wins in the SECT. Far from "very very doable".
With our SEC SOS and Non-Conference SOS, we're probably looking at at least around a top 10 SOS by season's end. If a team gets 19 wins with that SOS, I don't think it really matters where those wins come from. The committee would be flipping a huge double bird to teams scheduling harder teams out of conference. I'm already for an easier non-conference slate, I don't need the committee's help in that matter.
Looking at RPI Wizard, I projected a finish of 18-13 throughout the schedule with no upsets or elite level wins. That would leave us at 40th RPI and the #2 SOS according to their projections.
Marquette last year had 19 wins and according to ESPN had a SOS of 59 and an RPI of 61. They were selected as a 10-seed and weren't even in the play-in game. I get that they had a win over Villanova, but I'd have to think that if given the option between a resume like that (based entirely on one game) and 19 wins on the #2 SOS, the committee wouldn't frick up that badly.
A more comparable resume to ours (assuming we win 19) last year would be Vanderbilt's. They had the #1 SOS and while they had some better wins they also had a terrible 11-14 record vs the RPI top 100. They were selected safely in the field as a 9-seed.
