I felt the fear as I read this. All too real, man. We've experienced that so many times. Not cool.

So is having ridiculously low expectations for this team going to be your shtick for this year? I gotta say, seems smart save yourself.
I'm too far gone. I'm at the front of the hype train.

Hahaha no, I'm just trying to prepare myself mentally. My expectation is to comfortably make the tournament as a 6-9 seed and win 22-25 games.

However, I'm honestly just excited to watch them play basketball. I'm excited that I think we'll be good, but more so I just can't wait to watch them play games.

I just want a season where we are competitive in every game, sweep Auburn, make the SEC semis and survive to the 2nd weekend of the Dance. That’s a successful season and a return to prominence. Is that too greedy?

Try to upvote it now. I think that fixed it for me one time. Or I could just be stupid which is a good possibility

Really is. Kind of describes the first two years of Avery's years too. Granted, we didn't expect much in his first, but once we got close, we dropped two inexcusable games to Mississippi State and Arkansas. Then last year, it was to Georgia at home.

I'm a fan of Avery and love the direction of the program, but fans have to realize, the jury is still out on Avery here. He has to show he can get us over the hump and start finishing the season strong.

Opponent Preview: Memphis

Last Season
19-13 (9-9)
Tied for 5th in the American
RPI: 121
Kenpom: 101

Preseason
Lost 78% of scoring from a year ago
Added 8 new players- 5 juco

Projected Lineup
G Jeremiah Martin 6'3" - 10.3/3.1/4.4 JR
G Kareem Brewton 6'3" - 19.9/5.1/4.4 JR
G Jamal Johnson 6'4" - 24.8/7.1/2.7 FR

F Jimario Rivers 6'8" - 6.4/3.7/0.9 SR
F Kyvon Davenport 6'8" - 16.5/10.5/1.6 JR

New players in italics. Their stats are either from junior college or high school.

Analysis
This is a complete overhaul for Memphis, so it's hard to break them down. The question for me is where the scoring is going to come from. Kareem Brewton is a fast guard who could score in JUCO, but this is a different level. I don't think they'll want to be relying on true freshman 3* Jamal Johnson in the first game of his career either. With an injury to their 6'10" big Karim Sameh Azab, this team lacks size.

I'll be down for the AAMU game to watch Petty vs. my Bulldawgs (we're both from Huntsville). Looking forward to it and the Tide season!

Does anybody have a link to our guys at the SEC Tipoff thing the other day? There's video, right? I can't seem to find it anywhere.
