The first round between Nick Saban and Jim McElwain as opposing head coaches. I remember being frustrated with how our offense played in this game. Our running game was so inconsistent in those first few games of 2013.

This game was rough to watch. One of the more frustrating wins under Saban. Alabama was only up 17-6 deep in the 4th quarter. Like you touched on, the offense was so damn inconsistent the first few games.

Went to that game. Was a terrible game. Could not muster any offense at all.

This was a very weird game for a number of reasons. It was Sept. 21 but still the home opener, the latest home opener I can remember. And it was definitely a slow game after the barn burner @ TAMU the week prior.

But the thing I remember the most about this game was the truly incredible sunset that happened during the game. Easily the best I’ve ever seen in Tuscaloosa (a town with great sunsets), I caught myself staring it and not watching the slow game on the field. Anyone else remember that? I’m sure there are some pics out there somewhere of it

ETA: one other funny memory is that late that night after the game I remember walking down the Strip around closing time and it was a little rowdier than usual and two CSU fans were just sitting on the curb looking terrified as if to say “is it always like this?”

I remember that. It was incredible.
