Any idea what LB spot we're recruiting beckwith at?

I value olinemen more because of our scheme, but Liner is GREAT. He can make a difference. I'm also not really high on knevel. Much higher on Dawson

I'm thinking Sam
ETA or the Mosely nickle middle

Saban told him he can play any of the 4. He did a lot of passrush drills when he came for the camp in the Summer, but Saban also told him he was athletic enough to play nickle packages as a LB.

Who all do we have coming in that are expected to play linebacker?
Posted on 12/10/12 at 10:14 pm to NATidefan
Allen. Maybe D Walker depending on several things. That's it as far as committed

I'd feel a lot better with at least one more true linebacker in this class. But I assume the staff knows what they are doing.

We took a shite ton last year. 1 redshirted. We're doing ok.

His junior highlights have him with his hand in the dirt the majority of the time, just like Denzel Devall.

I think Lee and Anderson redshirted

Lee definitely played. He might have gotten a medical though if we fudged up an injury

According to rolltide.com, Lee has played in 8 games - too many to be eligible for a medical.
And Walker Jones is another potential incoming LB that I don't think has been mentioned...and Derrick Henry

I forgot Walker Jones....as did everyone who isn't a Miss St fan

Well, so far we're batting .500 with Jones' brothers. Hopefully, Walker takes more after Barrett than Harrison

I dont know why we are taking him. Kid will never see the field.
ETA: Maybe he is paying his own way so he will come off the books in a year.

Then DD played a lot of LB when his Senior year came around.

Look for McLeod to leave. It's been in the cards for awhile now.
Mags, you know I like him but he's not elite. We have Bateman, who I'm high on but he needs work, and that's enough for this class. We need a top 50 guy in 2014 at the QB position or a guy like EJ Moss (who isn't high on the the recruiting sites rankings, but he's a stud, trust me) who will make passing on McLeod ok.
To me it comes down to choosing between a possible elite O-Lineman in Knevel and a possible elite D-lineman in Liner. History shows that we have fared better with a dominant O-Line and decent D-line than vice versa.

Non consecutive double post?
EJ Moss and Roc Thomas are deciding together soon, Moss has opened his horizons to defense because of Saban and Smart, or H-Back if he can stay on offense.
People want it to happen, and I'm indifferent, but McLeod not being an EE doesn't look like it's gonna happen. He got back from his official and said nothing had changed, and has said he plans on rooming with Bateman, Howard, and McNeil. All three of which are also EEs.

The kid was at the SEC Championship game and was just in town last week for an official. He doesn't sound like he is looking anywhere but Bama, even mentioned expecting to room with Cooper, OJ, and Josh McNeil...
ETA: I mention that stuff because if we thought Justin Taylor caused a crap-storm, just imagine what will happen if he is offered a grayshirt or told to look around.
