This is a very physically impressive group.

Indeed it is. Ragland is a beast. Taylor is a beast. LC is a beast. Everyone is a beast.

That's like saying a player can play in the WAC and dominate, and then he'll suck when he plays a team from the SEC. However, when he gets to the NFL he's a beast.
Thinking you must not have understood my post that you responded to because this analogy of yours is out of left-field. I said Henry was playing well against small schools in Florida.....struggled against Buford and will struggle even more at Alabama if he plays RB. Thus, I think Bama will run off Jones or Tenpenny for a guy that won't be a success in the SEC at RB.

its because of his relatively slow reported 40 time of 4.57, im sure. Which is crazy if you watch film on him. He is as quick and fast as anybody.
-That 4.57 is from the 9th grade. Tyren ran track this season and was the fastest sprinter on the Walton team that finished 2nd in the 4x100m at the Georgia large class state track meet.
-Recruiting analysts from sites like 247sports, Rivals and Scout are pretty bad at evaluating RBs. Take a look at the success rate of Rivals for their top 10 RBs and top 10 APBs each year from 2002 to 2008. That's a total of 20 RBs per year for 7 years.....a total of 140 RBs in the top 20 [as aformentioned]. Only 5 of these 140 have made the Pro Bowl and only about 18-20 have ever played a down in the NFL. So basically, of the top 10 RBs and top 10 APBs each year (20 total) per Rivals, about 3 of these 20 ever play a down in the NFL.
-They don't really evaluate film.....they give RBs bumps in camps....which is crazy as the primary job of a RB is to break tackles and you are not breaking tackles in a camp
-Alvin Kamara jumped Tyren Jones in the Scout and ESPN rankings "just based on camps" that Kamara attended but Jones didn't because he ran track. I live in ATL Metro and have watched both play several times....Jones is the better RB....but again, these guys do NOT watch film or don't know how to evaluate it.

Its crazy that Kamara jumped Jones because Jones was lighting it up at the camps he did go to. I guess its because he didnt go to any of the more known camps but instead went to the team camps.

No, my analogy makes perfect sense.
You're saying he played well against weak competition in High School, and when he played a better HS he struggled.
In my analogy the guy playing in the WAC is the same as Henry playing small schools, and then he struggles with a bigger team (the SEC team in my analogy).
Then, and this happens all the time, the WAC Player goes to the NFL and kicks arse. In my situation Henry goes from playing small schools to the next level and could easily be a beast. We develop RBs pretty well too.

My point is that after watching film, I'd be highly surprised if Henry is successful as an SEC RB, regardless of who coaches him up.
In terms of the NFL, teams are trending to shorter, stockier RBs because the taller RBs have a tendency to have shorter careers because they take a lot more "hard" hits due to larger surface area. Compare the durability of taller RBs like Adrian Peterson and Darren McFadden to Maurice Jones-Drew and Ray Rice. Even taking a larger sample set of data, typically the taller you are as a RB the shorter your career....obviously there are outliers.
The 3 RBs to be drafted in the 1st round over the past 2 years are all 5'9", 215+ pounds.
Good article that presents a lot of data that supports RBs in the mold of Emmitt Smith, Barry Sanders, Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson over taller RBs.
Ideal NFL RB: 5'9", 206-225 pounds
I could be wrong but I don't see Henry as having an SEC RB skill-set. A "great" athlete doesn't equal great RB. See Ronnie Wingo at Arkansas for reference. Kid should move to H-Back and be a top 2 round pick. Instead he remains at RB and won't be drafted as he is NOT a good RB.

I agree smaller, stockier RBs are better, but I think Henry could be a good short yardage back if he needed to be. I doubt we keep him at RB if we get him.

Wow this thread is a joke these days.

I think he would be better suited elsewhere but word is the staff likes Henry at RB.Guess we'll see .

Do you see Henry as a future running back?

Seriously. I haven't had a reason to poke the bees nest in a month, and it doesn't help with all the damn in-fighting going on here. Get it together, guys

Glad to see John Fulton starting or 1st in organizational groupings. I just love to see the kids who waited there turn get to play. Tana Patrick as well. Kind of dissapointed to see Marvin Shinn behind Amari Cooper and Eddie Williams though.

He'd be a good linebacker

Ignore trolls and dumbasses and they eventually go away. I'm sick of the flame fests that happen on this thread every five pages. I'm going to RA the crap out of any childish argument crap on this thread. If someone gets caught in some sort of banhammer crossfire, I know I won't lose any sleep. Save the BS for the SECr. We've already lost on decent thread because people couldn't act like adults. I'd rather lose marginal posters than lose a decent source of real information. Grow up.

Honestly, You guys might end up losing him to Tennessee if they don't completely implode and/or he thinks Bama will continue to push him to LBer.
