I was wondering when you were going to come back. I guess you were right. Still not sure though.

Hmmmm. Another one. Flamers can't flame this thread anymore so they pose as Bama fans to do it now.

But seriously though we are missing on a lot of great guys. We can talk all we want about how Saban coaches guys up and to an extent its true. But lets don't pretend like Mark, Trent, Julio, Dre, Upshaw, were scrubs. We need to sign some true impact players as well as the talent we are signing.
a
We have depth but we don't have a DL as good and Nkemdiche, a LB as good as Foster/Thomas, or a DB as good as Vernon Hargraves.

This happens every year for every single college. Sometimes it happens more in 1 recruiting cycle, and in others you hardly notice it. Auburn missed on a TON of recruits, that they really wanted, at the end of last season. Ronald Darby, Eddie Goldman, Channing Ward, TJ Yeldon, Menelick Watson, Stefon Diggs, Travis Blanks, Cyrus Jones, Deon Bush, Geno Smith, and I won't even go any further. We were top 2 for nearly every single recruit listed above.

Mark,Upshaw, and Kirkpatrick were no more highly recruited then guys we have on board. Hightower, Arenas,Kareem Jackson, Maze, Carpenter, Vlachos, Reamer, Will Lowery, Lorenzo Washington, Brandon Deaderick, Chance Warmack, Anthony Steen, Cody, Chapman, Mezie, Rashad Johnson, are all on par or lower as far as recruiting talent than our top guys this year.

TT is exactly right we have missed on a list of all americans that people thought we were going to land during the Saban years and yet all that matters is the 25 you bring in.

I just can't believe more elite defensive talent would rather play for Clemson than Saban right now.

Saban looks at players differently than Scout,Rivals or 247. Usualy he is able to sign 25 who can fill out a j-strap. Or so it would seem.

This. Saban recruits prospects like he is drafting for the NFL. Look at the guys we bring in. NFL-like measurables.

I'm guessing he meant Mark Ingram.

Every 5 star prospect is not what I would consider elite. Rueben Foster and Robert Nkemdiche are the only elite prospect I see in this class. Elite to me means a player who's measurables and abilities at his position are already at a major college level coming out of high school.

These type of players you just know they will play well in college and then be 1st round picks in the NFL.

A program will probably only get a player of this caliber at his position every 5 or 6 years. Saban has signed an elite player every year except 2010. 2008 was Julio, 2009 was Trent, 2011 was Cyrus, 2012 was Collins, and 2013 OJ Howard.

So please spare us the Saban doesn't get elite prospects bit.

Ingram. The list of players included julio Trent with other guys including Dre that were not as highly recruited. And OJ is right there with Julio and Trent.

Whats the disconnect with these elite defenders in this class in particular though? They are choosing schools that absolutely blow like Clemson and Miami.

They're looking at your depth chart. You guys are stacked right now.

I don't understand the concept of sucking instead of winning. Its not like we got tons of elite guys under Shula because Florida and LSU were stacked.
