go look at the plays at 3:30 and 5:30 on cokers 2013 plays. this is why im excited about what he can do
Exactly. As much as we all LOVE Sims, Coker's talent is undeniable. His ability as a runner is different. He's big, he shakes guys off and is looking down field to make completions. If he wins the job, I hope we can retain him for 2015. With even an above average season he'll get hype from his size/arm/athletic ability. But again, it is important to remember that he isn't already a finished product. He has the potential to be really good, but he needs to get some in game experience to develop.

I'm fine with geno at FS in base and moving over as long as Jarrick or Hootie play over perry. Perry is like a pudgy shorter OLB without the tackling skills and zero secondary ability.

Well I do agree that I'd rather have Jarrick/Geno at FS/Star than Perry, but Perry is a fifth year Senior who knows the defense. Hootie is a true freshman, and one that doesn't fit the FS role we're talking about. He was a highly touted recruit, but that doesn't mean he's automatically a better option than an established 5th year senior.

Sure there is a possibility that he could go pro, IMO it's very slim and you'd definitely get blasted as a huge homer for suggesting it as a possibility on the secr.
Really just see no real way he would be able to justify leaving after one year. He needs the two years worth of live game reps.

Oh I agree, but if he gets overhyped (like those idiots did Mariota, setting him up to fail and it pisses me off. Glad he went back to Oregon) then it could be hard to resist. I think he'd stay though. As I recall, wasn't there something about him being a Bama fan growing up? Maybe that was wrong, think it was posted here from BOL or FSU's 247 forum.

Cyrus Jones and Eddie Jackson have both been start multiple roles, says Saban.
When Eddie is healthy, may see Jackson/Sylve with Jones at Star. I think Jones a lot better at Star than Corner.
Then I'd like to see Brown beat out Sylve, unless Sylve plays lights out.

Perry is a good player. Why do you think he is so bad?

Perry has had too many injuries to really be effective. I hope he finishes strong this season. Seems like a program first kind of guy.

Has there been any word on Ronnie Clarke and where he is lining up? Also how about Mo Smith and Cook from the previous class?
Posted on 8/12/14 at 8:35 pm to A-TOWNUAFAN
Clark is at Safety.
Mo is a Corner/Star. Cook is at Safety.

quote:recruiting junkie sometimes make some sweeping statements without a whole bunch to back it up. perry has been fine when he was healthy. he only played sparingly his 1st and 2nd years on campus (2010 and 2011), . In 2012 he was a pretty important reserve safety, played in all 14 games, and got almost 40 tackles, 2 pass breakups, 1 sack, 2 tackles for loss, which are good numbers for a backup safety. 2013 he was hurt. There is no reason to think he wont be a good, experienced player for us this year. he knows the system inside and out at this point, and he is at least above average physically and athletically.

I'm assuming Hootie has impressed more then?
Mo Smith looked ok as a true freshman last year. so that says a lot about Hump just getting to campus and already passing a high 4* with game experience in the SEC on the depth chart

i think Mo Smith is working some at Star. He should be on several ST units also.
Perry is gonna be a solid contributor. junkie is just mad because Nick Perry shops at walmart.

Im guessing Junkie hasn't seen this yet. Anyway weve had a lot of players that play well and weren't that good IMO. If he can just be where they are suppose to be he will be ok. Just like Robert Lester.
