I think the biggest question about the 2014 team is the OL, not the QB.

What was said on the previous page was more towards why or why not specific players were or weren't considered best 5, not that the line was set.

And to what extent Saban's comment was about is uncertain. It could have been shuffling for 4-5 spots, or it could have been 2-3. They've got 2 spots to fill for certain at LT and RG, though Robinson seems to have but away the competition at the former. Past that is up for debate.

Everyone wants to see the best 5 on the field, but no one really knows for sure who that list is made up of. Won't know until WVU, or maybe a little sooner.

Did any video ever emerge from practice yesterday? C-Rob seems to have settled in nicely at LT.

TideSports had about a 3 minute long video on the OL, posted it elsewhere. LINK

BOL and Tide99.1 didn't really have any from what I've seen uploaded.

They get their opportunities every day in practices to unseat someone. They get reps with the 1st team, if the coaches saw superior play, they'd make something like that happen.

Cam Robinson showed on the practice field he was better than incumbent Brandon Greene, and he was rewarded the starting LT job. He got an opportunity, just like everyone else. Only guy who hasn't had a fair shake is Jackson, who wasn't even been on campus.

But to force someone out of the lineup because they're highly regarded prospects doesn't make sense.

I wasnt saying because Hill was the number 1 Guard that he should start. He already made his case when he went in for Shepard last year as a TF.

Only other guy I am really arguing for is Jackson and we agree on his situation.

quote:

Why do they deserve playing time? Because they "are highly rated and signed up to play football"? And you say I'm talking about charity. They'll get playing time if they earn it on the practice field, just like any starter before them.

He deserves it because he is the one impressing in practice and on the field. He didnt play as much as the others last year because Saban said he wanted to use him as the 6th OL because he played 3 positions.

you'd think those numbers would be a lot worse with they way you've talked about them.

AJ was a very underrated pass rushing eluder. McElory would have taken about 5 sacks a game. The holes werent always there like in 2009, 2011, and 2012. Even 2010 the holes were there a lot more. We lost 3 games because of defense and poor decision making by Greg.

quote:

Jackson was working 3rd team OT Sunday, haven't really shown their hand on where they want him at. I'll give Brown and Hill all the time they need, I hope they do make the best of their opportunities. It's up to them to do, they aren't gonna be given it.

What bothers me is that I think Arie and Austin will not lose their spots because this is their last year of eligibility.

ou have to show it on the practice field before you get to show it on the real field.

Hill has. Jackson will. Brown was starting.

Also a game isnt practice. Way different. If you suck in practice, yeah you dont need to play, but Grant has done everything he needs to do. He needs more shots in a GAME so we can see if the team is more successful with him or Austin. Co-starters work until the winner gets entrenched.

quote:

Again, we'll see come week 1. I hope you get what you're looking for in the starting lineup. I'm tired of this runaround, so I concede. I've laid my points out there, seems we just don't agree...

There is no winning and losing this type of debate. It is going to be what it is, but I am stating my case for a different look to other Alabama fans, so when things arent going the way they should be, that will be a key reason why and we will know what to possibly look for if some changes come.

But like I said before. Its the 3rd practice. And they arent in pads. Im positive Hill and Brown will get their 1st team reps. Hope Jackson picks it up because if he does, his skill set is something we havent had at Alabama in a while. Id like to see him at a pulling guard. Body type is freakish.

Its a debate on a message board. I dont think anyone got their feelings hurt. We are big boys. I didnt personally attack anyone? If I did it was unintentional and not by my conscientious purposes. So by the chance I did, then next time bring it specifically to my attention, so I can set things straight.

All I know is that I am tired of having to sift through cat fights in threads on this board, and you are usually in the center of them.

I think you'll see some OL competition similar to the QB competition. Maybe during the WVU game a guy like Hill could come in with the 1s and get a chance to show what he can do.

Dont read my posts then. If a debate is a cat fight, then I would hate to see your reaction to a real fight.

Hill still has a good chance of earning a starting spot in fall camp. He'll get his opportunities. Lots of fans are pulling for him including myself.

Talk about personal. Not once have I said anything to you, so dont tell me to shut the frick up. If you have something to say about OL play or practice then you shut the frick up. At least im talking about football until you queens show up and get on your period because you dont want to read something. IGNORE my posts if you dont like them. I have not came at anyone first. I state my opinion and get all these replies. I said nothing to warrant any reply from you or anyone else because I didnt post in anyone's direction.

Back to football. I wonder if we will lineup in 5 wides any with OJ and Black in the slot. Coop, white, foster, black, and howard would be a shite show for defenses.

shite show? Im gonna assume you meant a compliment with those 5.
It looks great on paper. But, if you think Christion Jones will be replaced by Black or Foster, then cocaine is a hell of a drug.
