I'm REALLY excited to see the QBs.

Has Coker gained confidence with the current first team?

How as Bateman improved after last year's A-Day where he did pretty good eye test wise?

I imagine those two get the most reps, but I'm also interested in seeing Cornwell take a deep shot or two and I wanna see if Barnett looks comfortable.

More than likely Coker will be the starter come September and he will keep the job unless he royally fricks it up.

I think the real qb battle is going to be for 2016 between Bateman, Cornwell, and Barnett. That battle will start next month.

Drake spent the one period with wideouts today after spending the first two periods with RBs.

Tyren Jones was back at practice after being indefinitely suspended

ETA: case of wishful thinking on my part. Jones remains suspended

thats not what i am seeing reported, but if true

with the way the media viewing periods are, i wouldnt be surprised to see some misinformation in some reports

You're right. I misread the report. Ronnie Clark returned to practice from injury and Tyren remains suspended

Rashaan Evans just has an extra gear that none of our other linebackers have. Please, please, please just line that dude up on the edge and let him rush the QB.

Tim Williams looks really good too

Maurice Smith leading safeties through drills. interesting...

SDH working with Reggie Ragland with the first unit of ILBs. Reuban Foster working with the 2's.

SDH seems like one of the guys who just gets it. I'm sure he always has his nose in the playbook. Hopefully he turns out better than DePriest did.

What we saw

-- After working with the running backs in the first of two periods for media viewing, Kenyan Drake went over to the receivers line. He was the last one to go on the right side of the line, but looked comfortable catching passes. This doesn't necessarily mean much since players get moved around quite a bit in spring. Drake still ran second in the running back drills behind Derrick Henry. Before breaking his leg last year, Drake was a weapon catching passes out of the backfield. He had two of his five receptions went for touchdowns including the 87-yard bomb on the first offensive play against Florida. Drake was lined up as the wide receiver on the right side of the formation covered by a linebacker for the longest play of Alabama's season.

-- Also at receiver, Chris Black and Robert Foster were in the first group catching passes.

-- Offensive lineman Grant Hill was not spotted again Monday. He missed the March 13 practice with what Nick Saban called medical leave.

-- Injured starters Cyrus Jones (hip) and Denzel Devall continued training to the side with strength and conditioning coach Scott Cochran.

-- Running back Tyren Jones remains suspended and Ronnie Clark returned to the running back line.

-- On the defensive line, the first group included Jarran Reed, A'Shawn Robinson and Darren Lake but that looked like a work in progress.

-- The offensive line had the same first group with Dominick Jackson at right tackle, Bradley Bozeman at right guard and Alphonse Taylor at left guard.

-- At tight end, senior Ty Flournoy-Smith was working next to O.J. Howard at the head of the line catching passes.

What comes next

-- Practice resumes Wednesday with Saban and players talking after that workout.

Glad to see Foster working with the 1s. If the light comes on for him, he has elite potential. Wish Calvin Ridley could've enrolled early.

Drake is gonna be a beast this year. I could see 800/600.

Interesting to see the big DL up front, though I'm not sure if that is indicative of the starters. I'm sure against teams like LSU and Georgia we'll run those huge DLs, but I imagine most games will see Jon Allen with the 1s. And Robinson-Reed-Allen may be one of the best DL trios in recent memory IF they live up to their potential.

Glad to see TFS working behind OJ, I think TFS has some solid potential. Not all star level stuff, but definitely could be a reliable blocker/receiver.

definitely. and the backups are no slouches either. Tomlinson looks bigger than Reed this year. Hand is going to be a beast and Pettway looks good too.

Yup.

I hope this DL is driven to EXCEED the hype. If they give it their all and stay focused, it truly could go down as one of the best we've seen. And we've got a damn good LB corps behind them and a lot of experience at CB.
