Seems pretty close at this point. Snell is 4th in Ks where as Strider is 18th in ERA. Strider needs to be around 3.15 ERA to be top 10, and the highest ERA to win Cy Young was Roger Clemens in 2003 at 3.51 ERA.

Snell has a slightly better WAR (think 3.7 vs. 3.4), less hits and less HRs given up (although he has about 10 less innings). However, Snell has way more walks (80 vs 47), and a higher WHIP. Strider has 2 more QS at this point, and is clearly dominating the SOs. 300Ks would clearly be a very notable accomplishment to the voters, I’m just hoping he closes the gap on ERA enough to take home the hardware.

I also like that he’ll miss the 4 games with the Dodgers. Given the lead in the division and 5 games over the Dodgers, I want him seeing them in game 1 or 2 of the NLCS the next time he faces them.

Edit: looks like ESPN just moved Strider’s next start to be the first game against the Dodgers and there’s now a blank on Wed against Col. I guess they could send Schuster down and call up AJ S-S to start a game. Wish they’d not had Strider face them but guess they want to give themselves the best chance to lock up home field.

Acuna got married, became first player with 30 hr 60 steals, and hit a grand slam all in one day yesterday... not a bad days work.

Strider was sitting 99-100 all night.

More from Acuna and Fried tonight while Braves outclass the dodgers. Title or bust for this years team. They good

Clinched division.

MVP

Possible Cy Young

New franchise HR king

etc.

Braves are easily the best team in baseball, and will have to deal with the pressure of being the best team this post season.

Fried
Strider

Who is the game three starter Morton or Elder ? Gotta be Morton right ?

Braves Franchise HR record broken

Team Season HR record within reach

Pitching a major, major concern (outside of Max Fried). Even Strider his hit or miss, and if he’s miss…the game isn’t winnable for us with this bullpen. Hope they get things turned around and Ronnie’s health isn’t an issue!!

Atlanta is two games ahead of the Orioles in the battle for MLB’s best record and home-field advantage for the postseason, and the team is 3 1/2 games ahead of the Dodgers in the battle for the NL’s best record and home-field advantage through the NL Championship Series.

The Braves own the tiebreaker against both the Orioles and Dodgers.

However... the Braves have lost four in a row and the pitching staff is falling apart.

Well,...

Max Fried and Morton have both landed on the IL just in time for the playoffs, and Kyle Wright has been moved to the bullpen. Well played universe, well played.

Fried IL seems like mitigation to get him into the playoffs. Makes sense to shut him down with the lead they have. He can be put on the NLDS roster.

The Morton one is tough luck because he is one day off from being eligible for the NLDS roster.

Nah. The universe just did us wrong.

Don't give it props

Just watch them blow this lead over the Orioles. Gonna be down to 2 with 5 games left after tonight.

Pretty sure the Orioles are the least of our worries right now. We’d have to win a lot games with pitchers that look really bad right now for that to be an issue.

Summation…AA took a gamble at the deadline that starting pitching depth was good enough. Looks like he may have missed that one.

Braves score 7 unanswered and steal game 1 from the Cubs. Their fans are sick tonight.

14-11 in that span too.

WTF was the deal with the RBI foul tip in the game tonight??

What a horrible missed call.

I missed that part, but saw the comeback, Ronnie’s 40-70 induction, Ozuna’s big fly to tie it in the 9th, Albies knocking Ronnie home to win it….what a game!! If we can keep this momentum going, we may have a shot if Max and Strider can lock in.

Great game. Acuna put the bow on the mvp award.

That missed foul ball call cant happen at the big league level. Three umps cant hear or see a clear foul ball ? Then its non reviewable ? Anyhow the Braves are really making a mess of the Cubs post season hopes. Great game

Break out the brooms vs the Cubs. Feels great. Home field throughout the playoffs. That could be huge.
