Multiple sources are reporting that Ole Miss defensive coordinator Pete Golding is staying in Oxford and will be named permanent head coach.

Golding will take over the head coach duties immediately to get the Rebels ready for their playoff run.

Golding, a native of Hammond, La., has been the Rebels' DC since 2023. Before his time in Oxford, the 41-year-old coach was the Nick Saban DC at Alabama from 2018 to 2022.

Pete deserves a HC opportunity. I just never thought his first would be at an SEC program.

Ole Miss is a truck stop on the Delta. Their past will keep them at the bottom.

“continuity “ hires rarely work out. Go out and find the best guy, don’t just default to someone on the current staff.
