Apparently Half Of Ole Miss' Team Is Considering Leaving After Matt Luke's Firing
© Justin Ford-USA TODAY Sports
On Sunday night, Ole Miss athletic director Keith Carter informed the team in a closed-door meeting that the program has fired football coach Matt Luke. Apparently, this did not sit well with the players, with many players storming out of the meeting, per USA Today...
quote:

After the meeting concluded, junior offensive lineman Chandler Tuitt said "half the team" is talking about leaving. Tuitt said if the entire coaching staff is dismissed along with Luke, he doesn't think many players will stay with the team.

"But you realize, there's no program without players," Tuitt said. "You're basing stuff off the fans. But we don't care about the fans that much. I'm going to be honest. We're here for the coach. We love football. If you don't want to support us, that's just your fault."

I hear what he’s saying, but coach ain’t the one writing checks to cover the fee bill. Chandler might want to pump the brakes on the “f the fans” sentiment.

"There's no team without the players"..... true, but the players shouldn't overplay their hand. There are always new recruits and transfers to come fill their spot. And before the players walk (and forfeit their scholarship) they should be certain they can transfer somewhere else on scholarship.

What about the WR who probably cost his coach his job? What's he saying?

Go for it guys. You'll are so funny. Let's see, once was the Rebels, then you were the Black Bears, now you are the Sharks. You are a joke.

This rarely means anything. I remember how pissed the Bama players were when Price got fired. There really wasn't any attrition but there were alot of threats. If any do leave, it gives a new coach a chance to get his own guys in there. If I were an Ole Miss fan, I would say good riddance.

They were just pissed that their hookup at Arety's Angels was gone.

Their fans would throw on their clip on bowties and help the players leave I'd say.

These players went 4-8. They’d be doing Ole Miss a favor by leaving.

The entire point of a College Football team is the player-fan connection. The two cannot be separated, teams spend millions of dollars to put the best product on the field for the 100 thousand-ish fans that come out each week. I get why the players are upset, but there is no college football in general if not for the fans or the players.

The players act like they didn’t have a direct say if their coach stayed...
