As an Avs fan, myself, I've read a lot of Dater's columns and he's actually a pretty good reporter, usually. What makes him different, is he's kind of the every fan, who happens to cover the team he loves, and sometimes he says some really weird things when he's caught up in his emotions. This was the weirdest, by far, that I've seen. It's like he forgot where he was and what he was doing, and just acted like he was having a conversation with a guy in a bar about hockey.
