Here's The Funny Code Name The Bucs Used While Pursuing Tom Brady
© Greg M. Cooper-USA TODAY Sports
The Tampa Bay Bucs front office had the fun nickname “Operation Shoeless Joe Jackson” for the pursuit of Tom Brady this offseason. Per ESPN’s Ian O’Connor...
quote:

John Spytek, director of player personnel and a former Brady teammate at Michigan, came up with the name for good reason.

More than any other franchise in American sports, the Buccaneers needed an unlikely savior to suddenly appear out of a cornfield. “If we build it, he will come,” Spytek would tell his general manager, Jason Licht. “Go the distance.”
Obviously it's a reference to the iconic Field of Dreams movie.

43 year old QBs with diminished arm strength are usually the type of FAs that put shitty teams over the top.

We'll see. Especially when Tom's without Moonlight Graham's cheating manual.

Wasn’t Shoeless Joe Banned for cheating? Seems Operation Field of Dreams would have fit better. Or, Operation Ray Kinsella
