Admittedly I’ve always loved Kobe. Why? He was the ultimate competitor. He would have never sat out for COVID or quit on his team like some of these college kids do. In fact, idiots on here have no idea about how he lived WHEN HE WASN’T paid to play. Kobe was notorious in playing for all summer and not getting played. He truly LOVED competing. He loved basketball. I think if Shaq had 1/2 the work ethic of Kobe he would have gone down as the greatest to have ever played the center position. Now he is 3rd at best IMO putting Wilt and Kareem before him. Some would say Dream was better as well. Dream was certainly a better overall player but not as powerful.

I did not see her speech. Did she wear the $4 million ring he bought her?

Some of these responses are asinine. I am conservative. Hate the way the NBA has conducted itself politically. But we all make as much money as we can. Him saying he plays every game so the fans can see him is a very cool statement. I have to say I like Kobe much better than I did when he was a player.

notice he didn't say let me take a normal person salary so said fans don't have to "save up" to be able to see him just once.

Stupid. I no longer watch NBA but he was one of the last I did watch. Players’ attitudes are totally different today

Him taking less pay wouldn’t have lowered ticket prices. You think the owners would have kept prices lower or just kept the difference?

Because the Lakers would have definitely reduced ticket prices in that case, am I right?

Basketball needs #8/24. Won’t be the same without Kobe.
