Spoke to a Rays fan while at a Astros game. He said St. Pete is a tourist town and they don't go to games. Tampa folks don't like the drive because the traffic is so bad.

St Pete isn’t exactly a tourist town. But it does have a huge transient population. Many many many people have vacation condos and obviously the beaches are some of the best in the world. But there is a ton more to St Pete than Tampa IMO.
