Clubhouse is ok just older. Practice range is good not great. Good course that's usually well kept. It stays pretty crowded. I remember not that long ago you could join for $1000 or so. I think the price is very high but it doesn't really have any competition in the area.
I'd join it before Bay Oaks or Mag Creek. I have no clue what South Shore is asking but unless it's crazy cheap I'd take Golfcrest.

Family NW out town loves the general area but hates Chicago proper. They live about an hour from both Chicago and Milwaukee and seem to prefer Milwaukee
