The Hall of Fame has confirmed Pete Rose will be eligible for enshrinement starting in 2027...
quote:

"The National Baseball Hall of Fame has always maintained that anyone removed from Baseball's permanently ineligible list will become eligible for Hall of Fame consideration," board chairman Jane Forbes Clark said.

"Major League Baseball’s decision to remove deceased individuals from the permanently ineligible list will allow for the Hall of Fame candidacy of such individuals to now be considered."

If they were going to do this, they should have either done this in his final years or waited maybe 5 years after he died . It just makes the MLB powers that be look like they were not standing on principal but just making sure the man was punished until the very day he died. I get you have to punish individuals but should this have really been a life sentence. Also considering the massive $ MLB makes off of gambling partnerships now? They are making massive amounts of money while creating an atmosphere where players are more likely to do this.

8 months after he passed. As a Pirates fan I hated the Reds but I loved watching Pete Rose. I'm not a purist to the point of believing he should've been banned from MLB and the HoF. I felt like they were unfairly making an example of Pete. Giving him eligibility soon after his passing seems like a final "frick you" to one of the greatest players ever.

Didn't have the decency to let him enjoy even a minute of being in the HOF while alive. Shame on them.

I totally agree. They really did Pete wrong, and then to allow him in posthumously is another slap in the face.
