Missouri President Mun Y. Choi and Athletic Director Laird Veatch sent a letter to fans on Tuesday to announce that they will no longer allow fans to rush the field at Memorial Stadium.

The letter said they will use cameras to identify anyone who rushes the field, and the offenders "may be trespassed from campus, fined, suspended, or expelled."
quote:

Dear Tigers,

As we get ready to embark on another thrilling year of Mizzou Football, we wanted to highlight a very important topic: field rushes and fines.

Beginning with the 2025 season, Mizzou students and fans will no longer rush the field. We expect to win each game that we play. We can celebrate in the stands with our fellow fans, we can celebrate outside the venues, and we can share memories for years to come. But we all need to stay off the field after games.

To put it simply, entering the field after a game is dangerous for players, coaches and spectators – and it’s also costly.

If we rush the field, we will be fined $500,000 by the SEC, and that money goes directly to our opponent. In this era of revenue sharing, we cannot afford – literally or figuratively – to give our opponents a large sum of money.

We understand that the excitement of victory can make it tempting to rush the field, but protecting our team, our fans, and our University requires all of us to do our part. Should a field incursion occur, we will be using cameras in the stadium to record and identify perpetrators. Perpetrators will be held to account. They may be trespassed from campus, fined, suspended or expelled.

Together, we can build an atmosphere of passion and pride that doesn’t put anyone at risk or give away what we have earned.

We’re looking forward to a great season of Mizzou Football. Let’s celebrate loudly, proudly, and together – in the stands.

M-I-Z!

Mun Y. Choi, PhD

President

Laird Veatch

Director of Athetics
Good luck.

They weren’t going to have any rush the field moments anyway.

If they happen to get lucky have a win worth rushing the field for, they basically just guaranteed the student section will be on the field with that memo.

Now with NIL these fines really can hurt. I'm glad I root for a team that doesn't do this. If a Bama fan tried to rush the field he'd get beat down by 100K other Bama fans.

Wonder why this is the year they suddenly decided to send this out. They could have made these threats of punishment years ago.

They summed it up. Every $$ counts. 500k is half a decent QB's one year salary in college ball nowadays.

New CFB angle: entice your opponent to rush the field in down years to feed the NIL coffers. Brilliant
