LSU redshirt freshman wide receiver Jelani Watkins is reportedly entering the transfer portal, according to Hayes Fawcett.

Watkins, a speedy receiver originally from LaPlace, La., also excelled on LSU's Track and Field team.

Watkins appeared in three games this season, catching two passes for 21 yards in the Southeastern game.

He appeared in two games during his freshman season in 2024, seeing action against Nicholls and South Carolina, but did not record any statistics.

These kids are crazy. They should at least sit down and talk with Lane Kiffin and Charlie Weiss Jr. before entering the transfer portal. On the other hand, if he did meet already then best wishes and luck to you. There’s going to be plenty of talent coming because of Lane.

Unfortunately, leaving a school after not breaking into the rotation after two seasons is where we are in college football now.

If the stone hands that played for us this year are better than this guy...yikes...

There is more to a WR than being fast. Maybe isn't a "football player" at this level. If he couldn't get any real reps this year, I'd venture to guess he's just not that great.

Yeah. Ask Chris Hilton. He knows ALL about that

There must be a story behind the scenes that makes sense of this, because this young man is talented. Lane Kiffin's offense is built for players like this.

Kiffin must be bringing in someone better fit is my guess.

Maybe. It seems a little early for the coaching staff to have made these types of decisions, though. An NIL offer may be the culprit.

Why would a fast receiver leave a Lane Kiffin offense? Is he that dumb?

Probably knows Lane is bringing in some serious talent he'll have to compete with.
