Report: Former LSU Assistant Turns Down Defensive Line Coach Job

Florida defensive line coach Gerald Chatman, who was considered a top candidate for the LSU defensive line coach job, will reportedly remain with the Gators, according to Fox Sports Bruce Feldman.

Chatman was a linebackers and defensive line analyst at LSU in 2021 and was the interim defensive line coach for the Tigers during the spring of 2023 when Jimmy Lindsey had to step away from the program.

He spent the 2023 season as Tulane's defensive line coach and spent the 2024 season with the Gators.

If BK is the problem, we'll have to overpay to get the right level of coach here. It's simply the way it needs to be done or cash it in on BK and start working on getting a new staff. Shouldn't our DC be the major player here in getting the correct DL Coach?

BK is on the hot seat. No one of value will come here first 1-2 years. Then back on the market. If BK doesn't get it done in 2025 with a seasoned 5th year QB, it's not happening in 2026.

It's going to be a difficult hire. 8 DL coaches in the last 6 years isn't a good outlook for anyone looking for even a short term job.

You do realize WHY those were short term hires right? One had a brain aneurysm, one retired, two got NFL jobs, two were Jancek and Pete Jenkins who were literally just fill ins
