Paul Finebaum appeared on ESPN's 'Get Up' this week and was asked about the situation at LSU with Brian Kelly being on the hot seat. Here's what he had to say. Per On3:
quote:

“If the callers to our show yesterday had a vote he would be coaching for his job, but they do not yet,” Finebaum said on Get Up. “This is not the most critical Game of the Year. Now, this game could knock him out of the playoffs. And remember, eight weeks ago, we were talking about CFP or bust for Brian Kelly. This would be loss number three, but it’s also an opportunity to beat a top three team at home in front of those very, very disgruntled fans.

“But the problem for Brian Kelly, after this weekend, is two weeks from now at Alabama and then later in the season at Oklahoma. Should he lose this game and lose those two I don’t see he has a path for coming back next year.”

If he's really miserable fitting in, tired of the game with unbearable expectations, and wants retirement with boat loads of money, it's in his best interest to lose all three. It would also make it easy for LSU to fire him, however with a cost.

Changing HC does not solve the offensive problems but replacing the QB with a dynamic/mobile QB does.

Here’s a thought put a respectable O Line out there so the QB can stay upright. FB starts in the trenches.

If your OL is not good you need a mobile QB to take the pressure off the OL.

If CBK loses to aTm, Bama and OK he is gone. I think he is hoping to get bought out so he can get the hell out of BR. It shows he does not like it in BR. No newly hired coach should get a 10yr deal. This is also Woodard's dumb arse mistake. Contracts should be just 4 to 5 years max for a new coach. CBK snowed his arse. I really hope CBK is gone before next year.

Could be just hearsay, but I did see it for myself that BK and wife had filed petition for divorce in BR court system; tea leaves say it was due to his infidelity with Coach D-D Breaux's daughter and that sort of negative light for university would be cause for termination of contract. Petition withdrawn and reconciliation now ongoing per tea leaves. J/S

Agreed BUT, If LSU didn't offer the deal, another DUMB AD would have gladly stepped up.

What makes you think that the 53 mil comes out of the LSU budget? The 20 Mil didn't come out of the LSU budget either. So you tell me. If the $$$ folks want him gone, he won't be gone?

The issue becomes...do they wanna spend 50 mil to get this dude gone, then more money to hire a new guy?

And find NIL money on top that.

53 million reasons he won't be fired this year...

I know of 53 million reasons he isn't on the hot seat.
What is Woodard going to tell Kelly? Start teaching these kids to play or you’re fired? Sure.
With the cost of NIL there is no way Woodard can further cripple this program with a 53 million buy out. Kelly is here for at least 2-3 more years.
Sad truth is Kelly is sitting on his buy out and laughing at the fan base.

I think he gets another year at least with that huge buyout.

So if he wins, he may be safe and if he loses, then he may be gone. Gee thanx for the insight.

Don’t you know Pawl has sources? His sources said Deboer was practically about to be run out of T-town after the FSU loss. Everything with him is sky is falling. He tries to be relevant now that Saban has joined the team since Coach knows infinitely more about the SEC than Pawl and that’s his so called claim to fame.
