Former LSU wide receiver coach Mickey Joseph was named the new head coach at Grambling on Monday morning.

Joseph was on LSU's staff from 2017 to 2021 under former head coach Ed Orgeron.

The Louisiana native was previously an assistant on Nebraska's staff and served as interim head coach in 2022 when Scott Frost was fired. He was dismissed from Nebraska in December of 2022 after he was arrested for a domestic dispute with his wife. The charges against him were later dropped.

Joseph will replace Hue Jackson at Grambling.

Yes, it is, I wish him well. It's a great opportunity for him to do something as a head coach. If he does well, then I'm sure other coaching opportunities will open up for him.

I played under Mickey when he was at Nicholls. He was always good to his players. Happy for him.
