After each week's completion, ESPN College Football analyst Cole Cubelic shares his "Sunday SEC takeaways."

Here's what he had to say about LSU's 38-23 loss at Texas A&M.
quote:

LSU: Tough one to let slip away. Could not get any sort of compliment going to pass game. Had numbers in run game. Missed some shots. Had 1 on 1's. QB seemed to drift some & not get set. Rushed a few. Late on some roll outs. Some really bad decisions to force a few balls. Couple drops hurt. Got a few big hits in quick game. Missed pressures. RB/OL couldn't get passed off. RT struggled in pass pro. 1 had a huge game, catch & run & jump ball. 2 solid. 86 had opportunities. Turnovers & lack of balance killer. Got pressure early. Zone scheme started to get them. Too much flow & cut back hurt. Got pads turned late. Couple 3rd down calls odd. 4 is incredible. Speed, flexibility, twitch, power. 31 really coming into his own. 99 plugged inside well at times. 35 played hard. 40 grinded.

Honestly if our wr’s do not drop 4 balls and our special teams shows up we win that game easy.

Joe Sloan is strange and I'm not sure what to think of him. He's supposed to be a top notch QB coach and recruiter, and there are rumors that he might get some interviews to be a head coach. But as an offensive coordinator, he just seems average. BK has openly complained that offense is disorganized sometimes. Anyone that follows Cubelic should know that him saying some of the 3rd down calls were odd is a nice way of saying the play calling was terrible. Also how many times did it seem like we threw an incomplete pass on 1st down then ran up the middle for no gain on 2nd down? I don't think BK will fire Sloan but I wouldn't be mad at all if he left for another job.

I think we all underestimate the time it takes for chemistry to build after a transition. Turning and burning coaches is rarely a good idea or look.

No Sloan is not even an average OC. He’s just plain bad and more predictable as a Les Miles and I never thought I’d say or see that.

Sloan called plays last year. Difference is he had a QB that would pull the ball down and run for 60 yds. Problem Sat was in the second they called nothing but throw to WR at the line of scrimmage and hope he made the CB miss or run it up the middle at the teeth of their defense.
Also think that right foot injury affected Nuss more than they said. After that happened every throw seemed to sail on him

Bad OC play calling. Predictable. No run blocking. Nuss wouldn't take check downs with underneath routes, but had to try to hit the 30 yrd routes off his backfoot. Boils down to OL, OC QB.

Nuss will continue to be a gunslinger and him playing like that is high risk high reward! It’s hard to watch how we can seem to run the darn ball! And I’d say most of us were really excited how our defense has been coming together but it was like watching the South Carolina game all over again prior to their dual threat Qb getting hurt. We definitely have to address that aspect of our defense. If not Milroe will be a problem next week.

This was all on LSU. It's as though Texas A&M wasn't even there.

Well, you’re right. That’s because this is the “LSU takeaway”. He does one for each team, each week. Go look up the one he did for Texas A&M, and tell your BAS to settle down.
