BATON ROUGE, LA. – The LSU men’s basketball team fell to Mississippi State, 80-66, on Wednesday night inside the Pete Maravich Assembly Center..

With the loss, LSU drops to 13-8, while Mississippi State improves to 11-10 on the season.

Mississippi State stomped on the gas and didn’t let up. The Bulldogs drained seven three-pointers in the first half to the Tigers one. The Bulldogs held the 44-21 advantage over the Tigers at the end of the first half. LSU shot 9-of-28 (32.1%) from the floor, while Mississippi State went 17-of-33 (51.5%). The Bulldogs also outrebounded the Tigers 26-14.

In the second half, LSU outscored Mississippi State 45-36 in an attempt to rally ahead, but the Bulldogs maintained its lead. Each team sunk three treys. LSU recorded 16-of-30 (53.3%) field goals and Mississippi State had 11-of-22 shots for 50 percent.

Max Mackinnon led the Tigers in scoring with 15 points on 6-of-11 from the field. Dedan Thomas Jr. scored 14 points on 6-of-13 shooting and two treys. Rashad King also earned 14 points and Pablo Tamda with 10.

Josh Hubbard was the leading scorer for the Bulldogs, finishing with 15 points on 4-of-12 shooting to go with 6-of-7 from the line.

The Tigers are back on the court Saturday, Jan. 31, returning home to face South Carolina. The game will tip off at 5:00 p.m. CT at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

If we do let him go then I hope people show up and pack the PMAC. Need to get that revenue up so we can hire another coach and get some talented players.

My 6 year old actually said the coach needs to be fired. I said how’d you know what that means, and he said well the lsu football coach got fired for losing. Enough said.

It’s possible to want the guy to win because you just like him. Everyone seems to agree he’s a nice, likeable guy, regardless of the poor job he’s done. I was definitely pulling for him but it’s beyond time to pull the plug. Won’t happen for another month, but that’ll be a sigh of relief for everyone. Then WW won’t be hired and people will go back to melting.
