LSU coach Jay Johnson announced on his radio show Monday night that pitcher Cooper Moore is out for the remainder of the season with a stress fracture in his right elbow that will require surgery. Per NOLA.com:

Moore received a second medical opinion on the injury last week, which revealed the stress fracture to the tip of his elbow. He will need four to five months to recover from the ailment, Johnson said.
LSU had hoped that Moore would return to the mound last week against Texas A&M, but after throwing a bullpen session ahead of the series, he did not have a smooth recovery.
“The thought was that he could throw through it,” Johnson said on his radio show Monday. “But what this (surgery) does is it allows him to medical redshirt and allow him to still be a junior next year.”
Because of the injury, Johnson said Moore will return to the team next season as a redshirt junior. Not pitching this weekend allowed him to keep his medical redshirt for this year.
