LSU Freshman Pitcher Jaden Hill Will Not Return This Season

LSU freshman pitcher Jaden Hill will not return this season and had surgery on Thursday to repair a previous collarbone injury from playing high school football, according to Paul Mainieri. Per NOLA.com:

After three months of Hill trying to recover from a strained ulnar collateral ligament (UCL), Paul Mainieri told NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune on Friday (May 31) that Hill will not pitch this season.

Hill also had surgery Thursday to remove a screw from the plate attached to his collarbone, which Mainieri said is from a high school football injury and unrelated to Hill’s issues with his throwing arm. It was easier for LSU to go through with the procedure once it was clear Hill wouldn’t return.

It has nothing to do with his elbow. He had to get a screw removed in his collar bone that was but there from him breaking it his senior year of football. It was causing some popping when he threw.

If it wasn’t for the UCL strain that surgery would wait until the offseason. The UCL issue could definitely be linked to excessive pitching before college.
