So the few odd plays in the field and moving late in the lineup and bunting makes sense now. What a stud.

Hamate fracture (specifically hook of the hamate) is a common wrist fracture in baseball players. The surgeons just remove the broken piece, but in the meantime it makes batting nigh impossible because of the pain. The bunts make a lot more sense.
