Alabama head coach Nick Saban isn't opposed to the idea of a college football player union...
quote:

“I think that — it never scares me that people are organized. I think there’s some good in that. I think, you know General Motors and the automotive industries had unions for a long time and they survived fairly well,” Saban said, via On3.

Typical Saban! Says just enough to sound like he's supporting the idea, but not enough that he's can't back out and change direction. In other words, he's a professional politician.

I heard about a football league starting that would be played in the Spring time for high school aged kids where the athletes would be paid.

Now we're only talking about a very low percentage that would make it so it wouldn't totally destroy high school football but what's next?

He's right. and union workers have contracts with stipulations that regulate what they can and cannot do. College needs NBA/NFL type contracts and salary caps.

If they do CFB is a pro league. No more "they are student-athletes" excuse but school employees. Freaking destroyed a great past time just to get a couple bucks from a video game that used a name on the character jersey.

The NCAA, universities, and media partners weren't just making 'a couple bucks' from a video game. They are making millions to even billions *every year*. If the NCAA/schools/media were only make a bit of side money off of some game, the situation now would be Very different.

Dear Everyone,
Do not ever get into a drinking game based on the use of “I think” from Nick Saban.
Sincerely yours,
