Longtime Alabama announcer Eli Gold doesn't seem thrilled with the school's decision not to renew his contract and to go with Chris Stewart instead.

This week, Gold spoke out about the move and made it clear this decision was not health-related. Per SDS:

Gold explained that he had expected to call the A-Day spring game, but CTSN has instead “opted for a clean break.” CTSN has chosen not to renew Gold’s contract but will honor it through its June expiration.

Speaking with Casagrande, Gold said that his health is not keeping him from broadcasting and that he plans to announce his next move in the coming days.

“Well, the university has chosen not to bring me back,” Gold told Casagrande. “This is not, with a capital N-O-T, not at all health-related. I am very healthy. Everything is wonderful. I am healthy as a horse.”

It doesn’t take too much digging to find out why NASCAR fired him in 2016. Not a great guy. Probably should have been fired years ago

All you have to do is listen to one game from 2023 to know that he's not "healthy as a horse."
