Philadelphia Eagles WR DeVonta Smith won two national titles and the Heisman Trophy during his time at Alabama. During a recent interview he was asked about his alma mater...
quote:

"I mean things happen," Smith told The Spun. "We can’t sit here and act like other teams don’t have good athletes and good players. It’s the SEC, anyone can go out there and win any given game."

So, yes.

Anyone that follows recruiting knows the answer is no. No in terms of having enough talent to always have a 10 win season despite crappy coaching.

Does it seem to y'all that Bama players aren't such die-hard homers for their college as LSU's ex-players are? Or am I just being a homer?

Gotta love this whole Bama is done thing…lost two games on the road on the last play of the game in very hostile environments then OMG they’re done for…please!

It happens. You can't be 100% all the time. Sometimes you miss on players. Sometimes you miss on coaches. Alabama has missed on both this cycle. They don't have a single receiver that would have gotten playing time over the past decade. And the play calling on both sides of the ball is atrocious. I trust the guy to adapt and get it back together.

Sometimes it just isn't your year. Take 2013, which I still think was Sabans overall best. I don't see one single player on the 2023 squad that would have started on that team. Will ANderson would be a 3rd down specialist. Gibbs would be 4th string, Brian Branch would be a special teamer, To'To' would be a slimmed down strong safety albeit 3rd string. Will Reichard is the only guy that would be playing and yes, I don't believe for a second Bryce Young beats out AJ McCarron.
